This is a good product
It’s a little bit more expensive than some, but it works soooo much better.

Works great and easy to install
The latch on my back door had a spring to break inside, so I needed a new latch to replace it with. This was overall easy to install. I had to buy it twice because the first time I dropped it immediately into the inside of my door frame (it’s still sitting there to this day). The second time, I had a very strong magnet attached to it and it installed seamlessly. It fit with the handle and lock I already had without issue. I gave it 4 stars only because after having it for about 2 months or so, I’ve noticed that the lock latch piece doesn’t seem to open all the way when I move the lock handle - it needs a little extra push that it didn’t need after I first installed it. It doesn’t prevent the door from unlocking or locking fully. I just try to be mindful of it and push the handle farther to make sure the latch is fully unlocked so I don’t damage it. Other than that, it was easy to install and works well. I would purchase again!

Fit my door to fix my f up
So my old mechanism had broken the return spring for the lock mech and when I went to unbolt and remove the assembly it fell to the bottom of my door. With no way to retrieve it I had no lock on my door. Ordered this hoping it would fit and low and behold it did. The hardest part of the install was holding the part in place to bolt it in. Once bolted in, the lock worked and all looked as if nothing happened. Overall would recommend for someone who knows what theyre doing and has the knowledge to remove and install. Or if you have a screwdriver and can turn it left and right, you should be good

Look for another source for this latch... Not recommended!
After 20 years my sliding door latch spring failed, making it nearly impossible to latch. After Googling for a possible replacement, I was pleasantly surprised that a new replacement unit was available with 1-day delivery on Amazon. What a relief! So I quickly ordered the replacement unit, which arrived the next day.BUT...the new replacement unit had the critical spring missing...totally not usable. So I quickly went onto the Amazon site to set up a return of my money and arranged to ship the reject unit back. As my sliding door remained unlockable, I quickly ordered two more of the Prime-line latches, hoping that at least one would be received in working order. The next day I received the two new units...these containing the important spring!!...BUT...when I went to install the new latch in the door it wouldn't fit...it was too wide. When I looked at it closely, I noticed that the case was sprung open due to poor manufacturing workmanship (see attached picture comparing Prime-Line unit with my 1986 original unit). Two out of two bad units suggests that either Prime-Line has an unacceptable QA problem...or Amazon's inventory is just Prime-Line's reject hardware. Either way, the latch deserves one star at best.In the end, this second unit looked like a solvable problem, where the missing spring in the first unit was not. So to save time, I went into my shop and did a fix-of-sorts to get the latch case sufficiently back together so it could be installed. Not a proper solution, but it worked to get my sliding door operational again. My third unit was the E 2014 model (not stainless steel). It has its spring and looks a little better in workmanship, but the crimping closure feature in these Prime-line units is clearly defective in its design compared to my 1986 unit and leads to very poor (insufficient ) crimps.I'd look for another source for theses latches. Not recommended!
