My 10-year-old son likes it very much, but he said that the tutorials in it are too simple. After finishing the spelling, he removed it and went to see other tutorials online. It was very good and the hands-on ability was very good.

My husband had an Erector set eons ago (gave to our oldest grandson years ago) The 10-year-old grandson was just as excited to receive the Meccano Erector set this Christmas. Much improved with motorized movers; great value; and hours of great building ... imagining , testing, problem solving. Excellent gift for a boy OR a girl!!!

I’m a dad that was looking to do some tinkering with my daughter and ended up settling on this starter set. Great pack for intro to mechanics and the way gears work. She’s 7 so I had to provide some heavy oversight, but overall it was fun making the windmill that the set gives you instructions for. The pieces are solid quality. I’d say I prefer this set to my old erector’s set from back in the early 90’s. The plastic pieces really offer up some really cool shapes to experiment with when creating things. I really wish the instructions came with more builds, but the set points you online for additional blueprints that you can supposedly watch or get. I haven’t done this yet. Once we built the windmill she took it to her room and put it next to her bed. I told her we needed to take it apart so we can build other things, but she insists that we built it together and she wants to keep the windmill forever. So in summary, looks like I’ll be purchasing the next tier set. Although she has enough pieces left over to tinker around, once you build a major item, you’ll likely not have enough to build anything else. Overall, a solid package, easy instructions (for an adult a older kid probably like 10 and up), good build quality, and really fun first build of a windmill. For a relatively small investment, I got to spend a solid couple of hours forging some lifelong memories with my daughter while exposing her to the world of STEM. That to me is worth the price.

I bought this for my eight year old son. He is autistic and LOVES taking things apart and building anything. There is a large assortment of pieces to choose from and let creativity run wild. We had to buy a little plastic bin to ensure I didn’t step on tiny screws in the middle of the night!

Got this for my 9 yr old grandson for Christmas. He got 1 last year and built that one on the spot. The instructions with these sets are great. He read and followed 99% without assistance. If a child likes to construct things these sets are perfect.

My niece loved it. She’s 13 and very smart and put this together very quickly. Will definitely get a more challenging one in the future.

Gift for grandson, will hopefully keep him very busy!

This is a good set from the SpinMaster Meccano stable. After the lemon called the Robotics Set, this one is more useful. It builds a range of mechanisms using a motor and gears. Good selection of metal parts makes the set attractive to older generation builders.
