Review: Love the glasses, but they can't handle abuse - I really like the look and the feel of these glasses. They have slightly larger lenses than compact readers (a good thing), and they are light-weight and easy to wear. Unfortunately I have now broken my second pair. The bridge is made of plastic and I think I'm kind of tough on them. They tend to break from mis-use (pocket, computer bag, etc). I know it's my fault. I need to stick with a metal bridge so I can fix it after I bend them. I ranked them a 5 because I loved the glasses. I give myself a 1 because I just need to have something more robust. Review: Simple, lightweight and functional - Adapting to reading glasses at the age of 50 has been an interesting journey. I found these glasses to be the least painful of the experience. I have been unwilling to pay $200 for a pair of reading glasses since I treat the glasses as something of an afterthought. I am constantly twisting and bending them while I make presentations to a room full of people. These glasses are lightweight, flexible, inexpensive and very functional. They take a good amount of abuse from a guy who just does not like to tote them around with him all the time now. I also like the idea that I can rebuild and patch them back together using parts from past abused glasses. They have kept me buying these units for years with all these simple aspects. They don't make a statement, which is why I like them so much.

Featherlite and comfortable readers
Update - on my second pair (stepped on the last pair). This pair also had one nose piece come loose but I still rate them a 5 for the reasons below, These fit great! They are extremely lightweight and the ear pieces are covered with silicon so they grip a little. This helps when you are active as I have had heavier glasses fall off and get chipped. The ear piece and the nose piece are very flexible. I did have one of the nose piece screws come loose.

Dont expect service from manufacture - Read update
I purchased 2 pairs of these. One tortoise pair 250 strength and one black 200 strength. The black pair have been fine. The tortoise pair however, was tight at the left temple hinge right from the start. Since it is riveted at the hinge (screwed on at the lens itself) there is no way to loosen the binding hinge. I didn't use them much, mostly left them near the coffee table for book reading, and usually left them open so they wouldn't have to be opened and closed as much. Looking back on it, I should have used these as my primary pair, so they would have failed within the 30 days. Well, you guessed it, I opened them up after the 30 days and the left temple piece broke off at the hinge pin rivet. I did write OPTX 20/20 a couple of weeks ago, but no response (thus far). I was asking for a replacement temple arm (since it can be removed via a screw at the left lens). On the OPTX website, I found a warranty policy that states one is supposed to ship the 'defective' pair back prepaid with tracking and include $10.00 (for return shipping). Well, lets see... $5.00 or so to ship them there and $10.00 for return shipping? I paid $17.00 here on Amazon, so not worth the trouble I think. 4.5 stars for the product itself (if not defective), and zero stars for the service and warranty = 2 stars in my book. Suggestion: Amazon is great for returns and exchanges, so if you opt to get any OPTX products, use them well for the first 30 days, and send them back for exchange if you find yours bind at either temple when first new (to Amazon not OPTX) Cheers! Update 10-29-2011 I opted to try and see how much effort it would take to get a replacement pair from OPTX. After I contacted OPTX directly via an email, I got a response a week later. I did send my broken pair back (in a box) and they sent a new pair in a bubble mailer. Crushed during shipment. I called their 1-800 number the day I received the replacement broken pair. This time, they sent another pair right away and in a box, wonderful! The lenses on this last pair were marked from?? After a careful cleaning with plastic polish, all of the odd marks came out. In the end,I did get another good pair to replace the first pair, but what a lot of effort to go through. They are nice lightweight glasses anyway. So for the replacement pair that did finally ship in use-able condition, I changed my original 2 star review to 4 stars. Cheers!

Great product
Very lightweight & comfortable to wear. Have been buying these for a few years now. Like any pair of glasses, the screws need to be tightened from time to time. The acrylic lenses clean up best with mild soap & water. I keep a few pairs on hand for emergencies, if I should break the pair I'm using. They are somewhat forgiving of abuse, but will break eventually with rough use. Great product. I will keep buying.

Flimsy hinges - Broke within 10 DAYS
I bought this pair to replace the same brand reading glasses that I have used and loved for over 2 years. Quality has really dropped since I bought my last pair. I put the glasses on the side table when I'm not using them, so I don't fold them closed very often... still, one of the HINGES FELL APART within the first 10 days I owned them. The plastic hinge is so thin and weak that I am surprised it ever held at all. The lenses are great, but the frame is junk. Very disappointing. I searched the internet to find these - what a waste of my time and money. JUNK.

Love these glasses
Love these glasses. I've been wearing them for over a decade. They use to sell them at Wal-Mart for less than $20.00. Eventually Wal-Mart discontinued them and I could only find them on the manufacturer's website, where I've been buying them for the last few years for $30.00. Now the price on the manufacturer's website is $40.00. That drove me to Amazon to find them. Same glasses, much better price. However, I'm sure the one's on Amazon are over stocks from a vendor, because the selection of color and intensity is very limited. PROS: Lightweight crystal clear lenses that don't make my eyes hurt or give me headaches. CONS: Fairy fragile. I have to tighten the screws often the and break the nose piece and lenses regularly. But I've tried other and and cheaper glasses, and the quality (per my eyeballs) is not the same. I can wear these all day and don't bother me when looking at my computer screens.
