A must have product!
first let me say I am a novice. I have never painted doors or cabinets etc . My home is very old so the doors I wanted to paint are not the new hollow core interior doors found today . They are solid wood doors, the owner prior had slathered the whole house and everything in it with buckets of paint . (And didn’t do a very clean job either ) therefore when I cleaned the doors all the layers of paint were just falling off or peeled off like butter in some areas . I didn’t want to sand it or strip it . The doors really need to be replaced so I just needed a quick fix and planned to slap some paint on them to make them look somewhat better then they were, However, due to the condition of the doors I knew I couldn’t just paint directly over them unless i properly prepped them which I didn’t want to put the time into that either . That’s when I did some research and found this primer that seemed perfect for my situation. I think without this primer the paint job would not have been as good as a result , I had read reviews on the paint I used over the primer which was the Bher interior/exterior cabinet & trim enamel paint in semi gloss and I saw alot of bad reviews on it and I think a lot of the issues ppl had with the paint is that they didn’t properly prep the surface. I was surprised because I found the paint to be amazing but maybe that’s because I did use this primer to remedy the timely surface prep . A lot of reviews mentioned peeling but mine result is solid and durable as the bher paint is advertised to be so I do think these bonding primer really helped to make the the top coat of paint work correctly as intended . I also think the primer really did a great job of sealing in the loose paint areas . This primer may not be for everyone’s situation but for mine it seems to have served its purpose well and was a staple in ensuring proper adhesion of the top coat paint . Therefore I would highly recommend this product for anyone who may be in a similar situation. Posted before pic, pic with primer applied, and finished after photos with top coats of paint . Still gotta get a new handle so don’t mind that ,

Awesome
I have a small area of peeling paint that tested positive for lead (could be a false positive using sticks) so I bought this. I know it's not a fix for lead. But I didn't want to make all kinds of dust even in a small amount to remove the flaking. So I figured I would try this to see if it would basically "glue" it down so that I could use the abatement paint. It worked perfectly!!! It is no longer peeling and it is completely flat. I'm sure if I picked at it it could possibly lift back up but I'm not dumb enough to try that lol But now that it's down I'm going to use the abatement paint and I will see how this works. I have seen complaints about it being very thin. But being thin I believe is what makes it able to get under the paint to make it stick, so I would expect it to be thin.

Wall saver
This product is fantastic, gives a great foundation to paint easily, wished I'd known about this sooner. The surface used on was weakened by water damage and was crumbing, after applying the surface was strong and the paint adhered beautifully.

LABOR SAVER...and then some!
It's weird. Home Depot paint dept. has never heard of it. Lowes didn't even know they carried it, but they do. Amazon is the cheapest for this product that is nothing short of AMAZING. Finish scraping the really loose stuff, then apply. Use as suggested and it will not let you down. It works inside and is also solid for exterior application. We have used this product for DECADES. Used to be, you could only get it at Ace Hardware.

Sealing primer, dries clear!
Paint dries quickly but you will need multiple coats for super damaged wood. Doesn’t have a strong odor, not thick, and it’s decently priced. Would repurchase!

Amazing product!
This product is absolutely amazing. The paint on the walls in my house were cracking because the previous painter did a horrible job. I took off as much of the chipped paint, sanded and cleaned the walls before applying this to them. It worked wonderfully! Then I sanded it down slightly and painted and my walls are beautiful!

Didn't work for me
Tried to save most of the paint on a vintage Ideal doll from the 50's. After light sanding and alcohol cleaning of the surface I applied 2 coats of peel stop with a day dry time between each. Coating had good adhesion but didn't adhere the cracks. After primer coating with enamel spray paint the cracks lifted and surface was not stable. I ended up peeling and sanding all of the paint off down to the raw composition material. This also did not seal the surface and prevent bleed thru of whatever they used in the 1950's to paint this doll.

Best on the market
Great to use if you have peeling. Scrape, sand, brush on peel stop. Goes on white and dries clear. After dry, paint over it.

I have a greenhouse with concrete sides on two parts. Each year I have re-painted the walls with white emulsion. One or two years ago I noticed flaking paint on the walls! The internet is a wonderful thing about getting information about things such as this product I am reviewing. I scraped off all the loose paint (What a mess!) and brushed this stuff on. Being a greenhouse facing south the stuff soon dried...as did the emulsion I put on top of it! To date...May 2016 my walls remain good....

I used as undercoat on an area where the paint was peeling. Might require more than one coat depending on severity of peeling
