outstanding product
hello, my last stainless steel needle nose pliers broke off at the tip, so i broke the other one off evenly and now i have a stubby stainless steel set of pliers. but, i still needed a long needle nose one to put on safety rings in shackles. the grip is very good and does not slip in misty weather. this one is well built, comes with a sheath and an adjustable strap so you will not lose it overboard. the sheath has a handy velcro tab that will keep the pliers in place during all sorts of action. the sheath also has a loop in the back to put it over your belt, over a lifeline or rope if you need it close by. a removable caribiner is also attached to this sheath, so there are three ways to attach the tool to anything you have laying around. this is an outstanding product and the delivery was very fast. will certainly purchase it again if needed...yrmv

Great fishing pliers at a even better price.
Great fishing pliers and well worth the money. You will save $$$ over even Walmart. Quick shipping and better than expected. Just remember to keep them secure for they will not float for long...well actually not at all.Highly recommend this item.

Build qualtiy OK, but not the best design
The build quality seems OK, but they're not as nice to fish with as the Rapala brand pliers I had before these (dropped them in the lake). I thought the lanyard was from the holster to the pliers, but it's a small loop that is intended to wrap around your wrist. Not convenient to have to insert your wrist every time you want to use the pliers so I don't use it. The pliers themselves seem to be built well and the cutter cuts braided line great. However the cutter is recessed more than most pliers and that makes it hard for cutting knots off that are right up against a wide lure, such as a top water lure, because you can't get the cutter close enough to the metal eye to cut the line close. Also there is no spring to hold the pliers open and the tips of the pliers are pretty fat for needle nose. You can't get them inside small fish to remove hooks that are a little deep. For example, when catching bait and one of them swallows the hook a bit deep, these are a little too fat to get inside the small ones to remove the hook. Lastly the sheath holds the pliers securely, but there is a wrap-around piece of Velcro that you have to remove every time you want to get the pliers out and that's a hassle, and you have to put it back on when you re-insert the pliers. Also there is no metal clip on the sheath, so if your fishing pants don't have a belt then you're looking for a way to attach it. The best I could come up with was loop the little carabiner they include over the waist of my pants, and it won't fall off this way but it hangs a little lower than I'm used to. So in summary, the build quality seems OK; they feel solid when you're using them and the cutters cut well, but the design doesn't work as well as other designs that I've used.

Great pliers and sheath, for the price.
Mustad 6" pliers are sturdy and efficient. The only negative aspect about the pliers, is that it does not have a spring assist opening, but I do not find that necessary. The sheath is very nice, and does its job.

Very bad metal. Broke
These are crap. I took them on ONE fishing trip. After a day and not many fish caught one of the needles just broke in half. Looks like a bad mold. It was like they were made out of plastic. I hope this was a freak happening but I have had cheap Walmart pliers that are rusted that hold up better than these!

I was very disappointed to find that these pliers do not have a spring to hold them open, like most needle nose pliers do. When you're struggling to release a fish that is flopping around in your net, the last thing you need to worry about is forcing these pliers open before you remove the hook. Also, the pair I received did not close all the way. There was a small gap at the tip. That problem could have been fixed by an exchange, but the lack of a spring is a dealbreaker.

Tried 'em out and then bought a pair for my dad
As mentioned, they aren't spring loaded so you have use a little dexterity and a funny grip if you want to open and close them repeatedly. Otherwise, I used to "holster" to good effect, the pliers are solid and the cutters, at least when new, where sharp/aligned enough for cutting braided line (spectra). The nice long tip came in handy for fishing a weight out of a little slot which made me a hero for 10 seconds. Got the original pair on a lightening deal but I liked them enough to buy another pair for a gift at regular price.

Work great, and great quality
A must have for any fisherman. They are slim and sleek. Work great, and great quality. even if your hands are soaked you can still grip these.
