Great music, but deserved a double LP for sound quality
There isn't a bad song on this compilation! The songs are ace (pun in tended) but for the first time, I am disappointed with Demon Records. This compilation is supposed to be bass heavy, but because there is nearly 30 minutes of music per side, it is lacking in sonic depth. Maybe Demon Records has decided to fill the void left by K-Tel and they are squeezing as much as they can onto each side of the platter? The music is recorded so quietly on this vinyl that you need to turn your sound system all the way up just to enjoy the music at a normal volume. This has the unfortunate side effect of also increasing the sound of the needle moving through the groves (depending on how good your turntable is this can be a real issue) and the slightest click or pop is generally as loud or louder than the music.Sorry Demon Records: this is a real missed opportunity. At least it's not a Picture Disc.It could have easily been 5 stars because of the music selection, but I rated it only 4 because of the unfortunate choice of cramming so much music onto one disc.

A worthy release in comparison with all modern releases of this group! But not ideal as we wanted))
Perhaps, this disc does not sound as loud as we would like, but it is definitely better than the previous two reissues of "Happy Nation" and "The Bridge" from Mirumir. The sound in this collection is deep, have a good bass, but the sound from Mirumir is very flat and even the purity of the recording does not help. And the thing is not even that there are 8 tracks on each side. There are many singles in the 45 RPM of the early Ace of Base records, which also sound not loud enough. If you notice, later songs on this disc sound quite worthy even in a compressed version. Perhaps, the releases of the 90's may be superior in quality to this disc, but this release is definitely the best of modern reissues and, personally, i will evaluate it for a solid 4 points out of 5 possible. By the way, the color of this disc is rather matte light brown with a golden hue, but, it seems to me, that it is not pure gold))

Could have been better, but still recommended
The first ever greatest hits compilation on vinyl by Ace of Base!A 180g heavyweight gold coloured vinyl record, visually very beautiful, with an inner sleeve protection in which the tracklist is printed and the release year of every song. The release years of some songs are not correct, indicating in most of the “Happy Nation/The Sign” songs 1992 as the release year (which is for songs as “The Sign” & “Don’t turn around” not the case). The vinyl record itself is not that quiet... and it’s not the gold colour the reason. Playing the LP with a micro-line stylus, I hear very light “crackling” between the songs, as if the record has been played many times! During the songs the record remains quiet.Soundwise: The (re)mastered sound is not brickwalled, which makes the LP pleasant to listen to and turn the volume up, without distortion on louder parts. The “Wheel of fortune” version is the 7” Mix and not the Album Version (which was also the Video Version). The difference is only the intro, but I prefer the Album Version.Generally the compilation is OK and I’m happy to own it, with its beautiful album cover (from which I can’t take my eyes off it), but a booklet is missing and some photos or even just the lyrics. It’s too... standard.3 out of 5 stars for me, but definitely recommended!

Could Be Better
A missed opportunity to have a comprehensive collection by Ace of Base. They have took the 2008 Greatest Hits and Remixes album and then slapped Hidden Gems from 2015 in as the third disc.Sadly the 2008 Greatest Hits was missing some tracks. It would have been much better to have used Singles of the 90s from 1999 as the first disc and added the singles released after this. The remixes disc is a bit pointless. Hidden Gems is okay. It has some good unreleased material and B-sides but is missing Love For Sale which was an excellent B-side track. If it had included Every Time It Rains, Love In December and Love For Sale this would have been perfect.

It could have been better
This is the only best of Ace of Base on vinyl. In terms of that it's a must have. However it should have been a double vinyl. It would have sounded far more better because in this edition you do get a sense that the sound is compressed.Personally, I'd leave out Hallo Hallo and Da Capo and I'd put Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry, Travel to Romantis and Everytime It Rains which were hits in the U.S., Europe and the U.K.

Great music and band!
Ace of Base became the ABBA of the 90’s and had huge succés worldwide.Their debut album Happy Nation and It’s singles are their biggest succés, but they continued to have hits until the end of the decade. This compilation included most of their singles and is a good way to experience Ace of Base.If You like 90’s pop then Gold is an album to check out.
