I've bought 3 of these
I like this boom mice in the headphone wire, a lot. I had a different brand before buying these -- these are much better. The volume control is nice, and the on off switch for the mic is nice. One minor complaint -- it is very difficult to tell which position of the switch in on and off. I scratched a mark in the plastic of the switch, to make it easier to tell which way is on.I don't game, so I didn't rate gaming. And I don't know how to evaluate the noise cancellation. Cancellation isn't switchable, so I can't tell what it does or doesn't do. The people I zoom-meeting with say they can hear me loud and clear. This is the biggest improvement compared to the other brand I tried previously.I broke the first one physically, so I replaced it. (They are not fragile I just managed to break it). And I decided I really like the idea of having a headphone (speakers only) not headset (with an attached mic) to which I add the separate mic in the wire. So when I got additional head phones, I got another of these as well.

nice mic
higher quality than similar productsespecially the mic: bigger, metal grid in front, one pic in the description actually shows the mic without the foam. In comparison other products have a tiny plastic mic under the foam.Only downside for me: the controls are larger and don't feel as good as the rest.comes in a nice box with an extra splitter adapter cable should you have two plugs instead of a combined one.

Microphone not compatible with laptop
The cable quality is ok. The only issue is that this does not work as intended, I am using a WH-1000XM3 Sony headset and I was expecting to be able to use this cable as an external microphone for my laptop but it does not work. My computer is able to detect that there is a microphone but it does not get any input.

Great for Bose QC25, but has issues
First impression: Very glad I bought this, and the price is a steal.Updates in the Con section below that reflect the two stars off.Pros (Five stars for all this):1. The connector to my Bose QC25s has an excellently snug fit, so the boom mic stays put and doesn't rotate around at all. Five stars for that bit of engineering and tolerance control. Since it won't fit into my headphone carrying case without unplugging, I'll be plugging and unplugging whenever I travel. So it remains to be seen if this snug fit continues over time.2. Very good mic quality. People tell me the mic sounds great. I recorded myself and listened, and am pleased.3. The cable used has a woven jacket and is very flexible. The strain reliefs at the connectors look well designed. I believe they'll do a good job of distributing the strain over enough length of cable that I don't expect these will fray and fail in one spot anytime soon like most iOS device Lightning cables do.4. Has a mute switch on the cord.Cons (-2 stars for all this):1. Wind sock / pop filter falls off at the slightest provocation—must've been an afterthought, as its integration just plain sucks, while most of the rest of this product's engineering is excellent. It has zero retention and simply falls off. Truly a fail. After it fell off for the umpteenth time, I glued it in place with some urethane adhesive.2. Volume and mute control box on cord is bulky, so it has a clip to attach it to clothing.3. Volume control is an analog wheel rather than digital up/down buttons. I'm guessing that makes it more compatible across a variety of products, vs. buttons requiring a digital comm protocol that would only work with specific product lines. With the analog control that works with any product, the manufacturer doesn't have so many SKUs to deal with, allowing lower cost per unit. At a mere $20, I can't complain about the price of this thing.4. Mute button is a switch, and since there's no digital signaling to my phone or computer, there's no indication on the screen that I'm muted. I'd like a dark red on the mute switch to show me it's muted—much like the red that shows on the vibrate switch on my iPhone when it's on vibrate.5. Markings on the volume control and mute button are very low contrast and difficult to see.6. As many have commented, cord is too short. Another couple of feet would be wonderful. Maybe match the length of my stock Bose QC25 cord, which is pretty wonderful.7. Mic is sensitive to RF interference. When used for cell phone calls, people often tell me they hear interference. There's none of this when I'm using WiFi with Zoom or WhatsApp, or using it on my computer.8. Update after a few years of use: The plastic lapel clip cracks and splits, allowing the metal spring beneath to poke through. This renders the spring clip useless, and the sharp spring poking out catches on everything. I'll likely have to remove the entire clip with a hacksaw. Thicker plastic on the clip would resolve this.

Amazing microphone in a more unconcentional form factor.
I ordered this cable as a stand-in for a more substantial microphone setup in the near future, but I've gotta say that this thing absolutely blew my expectations! The sound quality of this microphone sounds a tier above what it cost. I work with audio on a daily basis as I'm a part time video editor. If you recorded with this and tuned it, I would have a hard time telling the difference between this and a professionally set-up lav and even some microphone setups. It does lack a little bit of the dynamic range but it captures so much detail that it just about makes up for it. Your voice will sound smooth and crispy with this mic. These are absolutely awesome when paired with gaming. if you're looking to affix a microphone to an already existing set of headphones or upgrade your audio game in a more unconventional form factor: look no further! This will make you sound so good in games. I literally get asked all the time what microphone I use and they almost never believe me when I tell them it's a 30 dollar attachable. The cable also comes with an inline clip that has a microphone mute switch and a volume adjustment wheel. It's a nice bonus to have an easy way to adjust the volume, and being able to mute.If you have the ability to use this on your headphones and were considering a ModMic, this sounds just as good, if not better, than the ModMic 5. You do not have to run another wire to you headphones as a bonus. There are a couple of problems however I personally do not find these problematic: fairly short cable and bulky inline clip. The cable only goes about 4-5 ft, but it can be extended. The inline clip is pretty useful, but this thing dangles around and can be annoying.Overall, I would absolutely recommend this over a lot of microphones out there! It has fantastic audio quality and features for the price.
