Best deal for what you get
$30 and you get a very nice leather sheath plus a razor sharp blade right out if the box, cannot complain about that at all. Very satisfied with this purchase. It being 440 steel I will only be using this blade to process game and fish. It has a nice weight and the balance is at the handle, where your index finger would sit. Balance and weight are spot on for a skinner knife. The blade shape is basically a longer stretched put version of the sharpfinger but with a more ergonomic handle. It has a thick spine that tapers to the tip, at the tip there is a nice bevel, making the tip a needle point. Im pretty sure the handle scales are Delrin. This looks to be full tang but I saw that the woodsman was a fake full tang, but from the look of this construction, there isn't a way to hide that under a hand guard which is mainly the reason I purchased this over the woodsman. Authentically this knife sits between a gentleman and an outdoorsman carry knife. It wouldn't be out of place with a denim shirt and slacks, or tee shirt and cargos.I'm beyond pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this large skinner to anyone that doesn't want to take out a $400 safe trophy haha 😆 . Honestly the sheath alone is worth the $30. I've gotten a lot less for a lot more money before so yeah.

Makes An Excellent Chuck Wagon Blade!
Love this Schrade blade design. I have a smaller, more medium-sized one and another just a little smaller still. But this larger one is very versatile, like I said, i love the design. It's used on camp-outs for cutting meat for grilling, with its pseudo-cleaver shape and very sharp edge, or as a utility knife for cutting up veggies, cooked meats, etc. As you might expect with the price, it will lose its edge sooner than your US-made Case or Buck, but it's nice steel and sharpens easily. I think the trick to keeping the brand-new sharp is to sharpen/hone it often and regularly. I do that after almost every trip. I suppose it'll wear a little faster but it's easy to keep it brand-new sharp all the time that way. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with the handle and its construction, the size, feel and balance are great, and the blade is strong and stiff, even if a little thinner than you'd like, The sheath is well constructed and sized right but I can't speak for it's durability if you carry it daily. Mine stays in the camp mess box - makes an excellent block knife!

It's always on my hip.
Its my work hours on the farm. It looks great and feels good in the hand. Holds an edge pretty good. I've only sharpened it once.

Deer Slayer Clip point Knife
Love this knife ....My cousin owned one of these knives many years ago and I always wanted one.. I've always owned a smaller version they called a Old Timer Lady Finger and have always Loved it....the Deer Slayer is a larger version of that knife....although the style has changed a little bit I like the old Designe Better....it had a better shape !

Nice knife for a low price
This is a pretty nice knife with a nice leather sheath. It came pretty sharp but after running it through my work sharp sharpener, now it’s sticky sharp lol. Very comfortable handle and a solid feeling full tang toughness. Can’t wait to put this knife through a good weekend test with cutting steaks, veggies, cheese, salami some lite whittling. Going to use and abuse it for couple weeks then see how the sharpening goes from a very dull blade.
