I love this!!!
I was doing research on gentle forms of yoga and found the term Yin Yoga so I ordered this book. Its great. I've been doing his set of Asanas several times a week and I'm seriously considering getting certified to become a Yin Yoga instructor. I'm 60, and I have arthritis since I was 40. I've been doing physical therapy and stretching exercises since I was diagnosed with arthritis to prevent deteriorating. I started yoga about a year ago for variety and I'm loving it. But because of my age and conditions i wanted gentler yogas. Found Yin and Restorative and got several book here on Amazon. I'm alternating Yin, Restorative and the Yoga card sets. I haven't done my regular stretching or physical therapy exercises since I started yoga. Doesn't mean I won't again. But Yin and Restorative yoga have been a blessing and tons of fun!

It’s Yin Time
I needed this text for my yoga certification. It’s a great read and I love the sequences with modifications. I also appreciate how the author uses different sized people for photos.

Fantastic book
I had to purchase this book for a Yin yoga workshop I took, and I have to say, the book does a good job of explaining the poses, how to get in and out of the poses, the pictures are very helpful. The information is great, however, I was following along with the instructor. Chapter 1 & 2 were a great introduction along with Chapters 7 & 8.I will be using this book when I prep for my classes. It's a very well written book, and I would recommend it.

SO MUCH INFORMATION!!! 👏👏
I have never looked into yin yoga, and thought it would be a good balancing movement to learn about. I was underprepared by the wealth of knowledge and value this book contains! It briefly discusses history, how yin and yang movements work together, and then the middle has specific poses and guidelines to help release and stress deep tissue. It does a great job at not just explaining the how, but the why. What took my experience to the next level was the whole 2nd half of the book!! It bridges the gap between western science and eastern energetics! It talks about all the various body tissues, systems, cellular processes, etc (in easily understood language) to help explain how amazingly complex, and brilliant our bodies are. It also helps emphasize how we can heal ourselves. My book has become well loved from the worn cover, marked pages, highlights etc. Definately one that will stay ok my shelf for continuous reference.

Crucial in Teacher Training
Just finished my 200 hour teacher certification and wanted to take that next step. Heard amazing things about this book in getting more versatile in yin yoga and this book did not disappoint. It is the perfect balance between detailed and descriptive with the nitty gritty but easy to read and understand and relate. Will be recommending this to all my fellow yogis!

Everyone can enjoy this book whether you are just beginning or are experienced
Just starting with Yoga but this book caught my eye at the library after I heard about the benefits of Yin Yoga from other sources ... Book is well rounded with some of the basic philosophy of Yin Yoga and principles ... it's well organized with complete descriptions of the positions and images that will help you succeed no matter what your level of fitness ... highly recommended

Some Inaccuracies and too little Physiology
I know that I am bucking the trend on this one but I am a yoga teacher and I also lead certification programs for RYT200 and have created training manuals for other trainings. My feedback is that some of the information on the traditional Indian yoga philosophy is inaccurate. Equally I would have liked to have seen more physiology with diagrams to prove the point about the joints. A real comparison of chakras/nadis and meridians where they are similar and where they are not would have been nice. I'm going back to my Ray Long books to look at tendons and ligaments to see where it confirms the yin philosophy. I personally have a negative connotation for the word 'stress' so the constant use of it in the book was like nails on a chalkboard for me. The word 'stress' is the opposite of what I want to hear in any yoga class. Also I find that the organization of the first half of the book is all over the place, it is a little hard to follow I found myself reorganizing it in my head and on paper to distill the key elements. That said the description of the poses, the modifications of the poses, that section is very good, more than that excellent. I would not ask my trainees to buy this book for a class as part of the program.
