QwikProducts QT2000 Check Acid Test Kit Yellow

There's a debate on this type of tester, but if you are working on an older system you don't know the history on, this can a least give you a warning so you can make a decision about what to do.

Worked exactly as expected. I may not have liked the results but this thing worked well to tell me the true state of my refrigerant.

This is great to confirm if moisture has made its way into an HVAC system. I worked on an R410a system that had lost so much of its charge that it was pulling a vacuum on the suction line and I was worried it might have pulled in moisture that would lead to acid formation over time. This showed me that the system had no detectable acid w/ a quick and easy test. Great product.

Detected the acid in freon immediately.

Took 5 seconds total. HVAC guy was skeptical and used some +$200 tool but said matches his. What else to say!! Use before dumping any acid scavenging product into Freon. Do NOT reuse. Its 1 time use even if says negative. Do NOT open till ready to use.

Didn’t even take a full second to go red. Basically a litmus paper in a plastic tube with an end on both sides that triggers the valve when you push it in. Use gloves, eye protection and a mask or regular. This half second depressurization test froze the plastic causing to to crack. It also shot the cloud all over the place. So clear the work area if you don’t want acid on your stuff. As it doesn’t really redirect any of the escaping coolant. It just holds the paper as the coolant blows all over the damn place.

Worked just like it said. Bad motor burnout was the result so I can't comment on how it might work on a more subtle situation. Paper was bright red for me.
