She loves learning jokes and play on words- I think that is pretty typical for this age so this book has been a lot of fun for her. She hasn’t complained once about it being boring. I’m actually wishing they had a second edition as I would for sure buy it. Because she’s my only student, I have her write in the book. We discovered that the way it is formatted, it was originally meant for replication because when you are finished with all the pages you can staple pages together to make your own joke book. However if you just use the pages from the book, every other page will be upside down! I don’t think I need to take off a star for my user error of course, just wanted to make a note for other consumers. Review: She's great with coming up with ideas and constructing sentences - My daughter is about to start third grade, and confessed to me that she was nervous about having to write so much. She's great with coming up with ideas and constructing sentences, but her handwriting is bad, and getting her ideas down on paper is a challenge for her. We ordered this book hoping that a little more practice over the summer will help her feel more confident and make writing a little easier for her. The book is excellent, and she really likes it. Each page has a few letters or words to practice, followed by a joke or riddle to copy. She is enjoying the fun of the joke, which helps her not get bored with practicing her handwriting. She's doing one page a day, and it's almost like a treat for her because she gets to learn a new joke. It's a very low pressure, fun way to practice her writing and prepare for the beginning of school without anxiety.

Fun way to motivate a child to practice handwriting
I bought this workbook for a 10 year old, after a family member who received a hand written thank you card pointed out the quality of her penmanship (gasp!). It was then that we realized they don't seem to focus much on it in school. We have another more scholastic book for working on letter formation, but she actually enjoys practicing with this joke book. The one thing that would be nice is if it were laid out so the flipbook could have a hand written joke on each side. As it is, you have to sacrifice one joke per page when assembling (hence the 4 stars). We will be sending the flipbook to the family member who brought the matter to our attention as a thank you. One note, before ordering I saw a couple reviews about it being half full of math and was hesitant because we have a whole other practice regimen for that. I don't know if they were different editions or misprints, but there is NO MATH in the copy I received.

A great way to practice handwriting!
I got this workbook for my son who just completed second grade this year. I love the boy to death, but he has terrible, illegible handwriting and getting him to practice writing is always a struggle. This workbook saved the day as he finds the jokes humorous and seems to enjoy practicing his handwriting. His handwriting has improved already and he is only 1/3 of the way through the workbook!

Great jokes to share!
My 7 year old has to write 5 minutes a night for homework, but they don't care what he writes. We bought this to give him something to write. He really likes learning all the jokes. While he still doesn't like writing, this book has made it possible to get his homework done. He actually finished the last page last night, so we will now be looking for another joke book similar to this one to keep going.

Super fun twist on handwriting
The jokes are age appropriate and really cute and my son actually enjoys doing his handwriting. It is struggle to get him to do any fine motor activity and this one is one that is working for us.

Great for my 2nd grader
My son needed some practice slowing down and writing legibly. This is working great. Still working through it. He enjoyed reading the jokes to his dad

Poor Design & Value
Nice idea, but poor layout design. The description says you can snip and staple the pages together to make a joke book. However, if you cut on the dotted line for one page, you will be cutting through the middle of the writing portion of the next page. Not at all worth the price paid ($9+).

Makes printing practice more enjoyable with the jokes. The printing is a larger size, good for suggested age range.

Writing practice is dull, the jokes helped make it more fun for my 8 year old.

Great solution for kids to practice printing. Kid writing improved a lot and enjoyed the jokes in the book. Wish there were lots more pages given the price.

Purchased for a third grader in need of some extra practice. He (and I) love the concept. The pages are engaging and fun, he looks forward to his "project".

This was used with my kindergarten and grade 1 students. They were highly engaged and had benefited from the use of this learning tool. Highly recommended.
