Spigen Tough Armor [Extreme Protection Tech] Designed for Google Pixel 4 XL Case (2019) - Black

I've been using Spigen cases since the Nexus line of phones, through the first 2 Pixels, and now for the 4th one. They have yet to disappoint me. I choose these heavier duty cases because I drop my phone a lot! It takes a beating at work, but protects my phone properly. I have yet to break a screen with the Spigen case installed.Even after 2 years with no screen protector on my Pixel 2, the Spigen case kept it protected. I did install a Pullen screen protector for this new Pixel, because it actually fits with the case installed. Fits nicely too.All the cutouts line up perfectly. It doesn't interfere with the screen protector. The edge gestures still work perfectly. The power and volume buttons aren't affected by the case. The only thing I don't like about the case is the "kickstand". It's is hardly useful as a kick stand, very flimsy and doesn't lock in that tightly. It will hold the phone in landscape mode, for now. But I don't see it lasting. Even on a perfectly flat surface, the kick stand is sketchy at best. I can see this kick stand being broken off pretty quickly.So really just the one negative. A mediocre kick stand. I didn't buy it for that so I don't really care. I bought it for the added protection and simple good looks. For that it shines. If you want a case with a nice kick stand, spend more money than this. If you're hard on your phones like me, you won't be disappointed in this case.

Is the case bulky? - Yes, yes and yes.Does it do a good job at protecting the phone from daily wear , drops and tears - Yes, very much.Buttons - Clicker than the previous ones that I've had on my Pixel 2 and 3. That is a very welcome change - I like it.This is the best case I've ever use on any of my phones. I've been a fan of Spigen cases since Nexus 5 and I've had Spigen tough armour or similar on my Nexus 5, 5x, 6, 6p, Pixel 1XL, 2XL, 3 and now 4XL.For the 4 XL, they've improved the design when comparing it to the one for 3. The inside has a yellow thin foam. I am assuming it adds a lot more drop protection. The corners have this 2 line (indents) design element - which again looks bad in the pictures but good when you see it in front of your eyes.Do I recommend this - Yes and No.If you're looking for best protection and bulky-ness comes 2nd on your list - go for it.If you're looking for less bulky case, then check out other cases.

Does what I expect a phone protector to do.You do need to press high/low volume control buttons consciously. Case buttons make a click when you press them, but you need to know your button positions to press up volume up from down. On/off button has a nice texture to orient you in low or no visibility situations. I use the kick stand feature more than I thought I would while watching Youtubes and other videos. There is one problem for me that might not be for you. I listen to audiobooks while working around the house. Pixel 4 XL does not have a plug to physically connect earbuds. Bluetooth is one option, but for times I wander too far from phone I use an adapter that goes into the phone's charger port enabling me to plug in earbuds. Unfortunately, the "stem" of the adapter works fine with phone but not long enough to work with case on the phone. Be aware and get an adapter with a longer stem.All in all, I am pleased with my choice of the Spigen tough Armor protective case for my Pixel 4 XL.

I have absolute butter fingers when it comes to phones for some reason. I probably average out to dropping my phone once a day, and not always on the nicest surfaces.I had this type of case on my Galaxy Note 8 for years and it kept that device alive through all of that abuse (well, for a couple years anyway). I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more color options for the pixel 4xl version, but the all black may end up hiding all of the wear that was plainly visible on the blue case I had for my Note 8.So far I've been able to keep this one in my hands a little better, but I have dropped it a couple times and both the phone and the case look brand new. The lip on both the screen and camera are also big enough that I have confidence they'll be protected. I'll also say the kickstand in the back, though flimsy, has been really helpful for video calls with friends and family while we're all separated and social distancing.To answer some questions I had going in:1. A standard Qi 5 watt charger works fine with this case. I haven't tried it with an 11 watt charger.2. The case does not interfere with gestures at all. I can still swipe from the bottom left and right to navigate without a problem.3. The case also allows the squeeze for Google assistant feature.I may end up getting a clear case at some point if I think I'll be protected enough, but honestly, for the price, you can't go wrong with this case.

Just as it's called, this is a tough case. This is my second or third Tough Armor case from Spigen - one of the best known names in cell cases. I've purchased more than one because they work well to protect your phone. I also use Spigen's car mounting product with a magnet. The base mounts in vent and has a strong magnet. The metal piece is then mounted inside your cell case and your cell quickly mounts to the base when you put it up to the magnet. It works well with the Tough Armor case including with XL size phones. The kick stand is a nice feature. I like to watch news in the morning while eating breakfast before work and it's nice to put my phone on landscape mode and it stands on its own without having to lean it against something. Cleans up well too - important during a pandemic. I disinfect it with Clorox wipes after coming home from grocery shopping and then rub down with Windex as well.
