What does "fully decoded smart chip" mean?

To understand the concept "fully decoded smart chip" correctly, you need to know what is decoding issue for Canon and why this decoding issue exists.What we are selling is an replacement power adapter for Canon cameras. The market is a very special after market and we have to follow to the brand Canon. Canon set the codes inside the PCM of the original Canon battery. There are communication protocols in the system (between the camera and battery). These codes are the key for the system to complete the communications. The purpose they did so is to prevent the sales of accessories from the third party. That is the reason why Canon original accessories are so expensive. To make our battery DC coupler to be able to work with Canon cameras, the manufacturer need to decode the Canon original battery successfully. But this job is always quite difficult so there are so-called semi-decoded and fully-decoded software solutions to make the chip. Then the chip is to be built in the battery DC coupler DR-E6.Our replacement DR-E6 battery DC coupler with a Fully-decoded smart chip will work in the exactly same way as Canon original DR-E6. When you use it to power on your camera, the camera will enter the normal work model directly. Moreover it also has the same compatibility exactly like the original DR-E6 has. It is compatible to work with all Canon cameras which is designed to use original DR-E6 battery DC coupler.However it has some differences when you use a replacement DR-E6 battery DC coupler which is with a semi-decoded smart chip. Firstly regarding compatibility, it is only compatible with some old models and can't work with other newer and newest models. Secondly there are two steps for you to set it up in your camera before you can use it normally. The first step: The camera screen displays "Battery communication error. Does this battery/do these batteries display the Canon logo?" "No" or "Yes". Here the user should select "No". The second step: The camera screen displays "Canon does not guarantee the performance or safety of the this battery/these batteries. Continue use?" "Yes" or "No". Here the user should select "Yes" Then the camera will enter the normal work model. The part looks like a brick is the power transformer. Our power transformer brick give super strong DC power output. This is also quite different from other products.

The battery pictured is not the lp-e6 battery which has two contacts close together on the same side of the battery center line. what gives?

The DR-E6 DC coupler is correct. After all the DC coupler is not a real battery. If you compare our replacement DR-E6 with Canon OEM, you will find they are exactly same, no any difference including the quantities and positions of the metal contact pins.
