This is how you bypass the JBL Amp in a 2001 Avalon
I installed a BlueTooth touchscreen radio in my 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS because the Toyota JBL Amplifier was sending a LOUD hum to the speakers whenever the amp was cold. In fact, I discovered that anytime that the ignition was on, the amplifier was powered up regardless of the radio being on or off. The Metra 70-8116 Harness allowed me to bypass the crappy JBL amp, and use the integral amp in the aftermarket radio. I ran the harness from the amp to under the passenger door frame, and across the dash to the radio's location. I then cut the wire to length (only needed about 8') and soldered and heat shrink tubed the wires from the radio's amplified output harness to the Metra harness. This was easy because both the radio and the Metra harness used the same color code.

You can add a vehicle to this list.
I have a 2000 celica gts with the premium sounds system witch is not normal to other celicas. This was a 3 week search to find this plug. But this kit works for the 2000/02 gts with the premium sound system or jbl system.

2005 Highlander Limited Edition it does fit!!!
It really performs the sound clear the wires quality is really good and also it fits with the jbl speaker conection for the amplifier to bypass it. The other conection that connects on the stereo harness fits correctly it has all the cables that I need it the only cable that I didn't use was the illumination cable (the orange/ white cable) because there was something going on with my warning parking lights when I turn of the headlights on my car apparently the stereo was probiding something to turn them on and not be able to turning back off until turning on the headlights again, other than that it works and I'm really happy with the results.

Third time's a charm!
This was the third and final wiring harness I bought to install a new stereo in my 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited. This one worked and I'm finally done. I'll give you a brief overview of the mistakes I made to spare you the same pain.Wiring Harness #1: Metra 70-1761. This wiring harness would be used to install a new stereo in this model Toyota without a premium JBL sound system. Unfortunately, I have a premium JBL sound system (you can tell by the "JBL" stickers on the door speakers). The connections are completely different.Wiring Harness #2: Metra 70-8113. This allows the new stereo to plug into the existing connections and runs the signal through the factory-installed JBL amplifier. Unfortunately, this results in a horrible sound. The radio was OK I guess, but bluetooth and other audio inputs were distorted almost beyond recognition.Wiring Harness #3: Metra 70-8116 (this one). After the debacle with wiring harness #2, I decided to bypass the factory JBL amp altogether. This harness does this. Be aware! You will need to run the wires from the new stereo in the dash all the way to to the rear of the Highlander to connect to the speaker wires which used to be plugged into the JBL amp (located under the jack storage tray). This involves lots of popping out interior panels, but it can be done by an amateur (me). This harness comes with 17' of wire and I needed almost all of it.One other thing - you need a separate wiring harness to connect the steering wheel controls to the new radio. I used a Metra Axxess ASWC-1 wiring harness. It took a little trial and error: "Connect the wires to pins 6, 7, & 8 of the existing plug" - which existing plug? There are four of them! But in the end I got it to work.God Luck!

2006 highlander jbl trim
After trying like 3 other harnesses I decided to give this one a last chance, turns out this was just what I needed, so just like any other harness you just need to color match the cables, you’ll have some left, the slim plug hooks up to the amp below the toolbox, from there you’ll just need to figure out how to bring it all the way to the front, I recommend wrapping with electrical tape so that it’s easier to handle,The fat plug hooks up to the original radio plug, good luck!
