Alt Process Made Understandable
For those interested in alternative photo printing processes this is a very clear and easy to use book on VDB. Peter Mrhar has done a great job on a series of alt processing books. This one does not disappoint.

Good introduction to this type of photo print
I first learned of this title through Amazon's recommendations and decided to order it, not sure if I'd ever heard of this type of print. It looks like you get a good rundown of all the details and procedures in making Van Dyke Brown prints (including digital negatives).Examples of prints and step by step details shown for doing the work.My only real complaint is that there are no sources given for needed materials.

An ok start for a complicated subject
This book is a good start to describing the Van Dyke Brown process. It's fairly well written and the illustrations are ok. I was hoping for a little more detail concerning the process, for example : He discusses the use of gelatin to size the print prior to coating, but no mention as to what kind of gelatin...Photo grade or Knox gelatin from the market? Also perhaps one of the most most important parts of any alternative process, making the Digital Negative is total glossed over and instead he refers to another of his books, "Easy Digital Negatives". So all in all it's a decent start, but important details a lacking. I think he expects you to invest in the entire series. I think I'll pass, glad I didn't pay the full price for a new copy and opted for a used one.
