Fluid, Sturdy, Excellent Tripod
Wow I was really impressed when I took this out of the box. I started by setting up the tripod, fully extended the legs, attached the quick release plate to my Sony HDR-SR11, and plugged the remote handle into my camera.First let me say this thing is very sturdy even on thicker carpet, its lightweight but solid and perfect for the HDR-SR11.The remote features included are excellent and well worth the price alone:Slow Zoom- This feature alone is worth the 70 bucks, its adds such a dramatic effect to your videos its great! Its set up very conveniently with a switch to activate/deactivate the slow zoom feature on the left side of the remote handle and a thumb controlled W/T rocker on the top of the control handle.Guide Frame- This is also another feature not included with my camera, but added by this tripod. It actually proves to be kinda useful, especially when trying to get various people/objects in one shot. The grid drawn right on the screen (also appears in the viewfinder) is broke down into 9 sections to assist in framing and subject locations. All in all I'm very happy with this tripod, I gotta shoot a wedding for a friend in June and this should do the trick very nicely, with a smooth fluid pan tilt, and the added features mentioned above I cant wait to see the final product.

Incopatible with Sony HDR FX1 and HDR HC7
I purchased this product based upon what Sony showed as its functionality and design. The remote control is typical on this unit however, the connection using the Sony LANC connector is NOT compatible with Sony professional HDR FX1 and prosumer model HDR HC7. The picture on the website is not clear and let me to believe that this is what I just saw on the Sony site. When I got the unit, it was nice and well-packed but it had this funky semi elliptical head instead of the 1/8 " radio plug; as seen on the Sony site and other pictures of this remote control combo tripod. I was extremely disappointed that Amazon and the vendor DO NOT include a picture of the plug. This will alert perspective customers that this may not be for you.

sony tripod
The sony tripod works as advertised and, makes it much easier to zoom in and out. Only thing i wish is that it had a video output jack. On my current camcorder this plugs into the video out so that you have no way of adding an extra video out to the camcorder. With the old one on my prior camcorder there were slots for the video out and remote tripod. Thats not really a fault in the tripod though thats more a camcorder issue. Is fairly sturdy and works well. With the panning i wish it could be adjusted to be a little smoother. Other then that a good quality product.

Sony VCT-60AV is a great tripod
I don't often create reviews, but this time I will make a exception. I just received this tripod in the mail. I hooked it up and put it to the test. I'm impressed as to what it is made for. As a photographer it preforms as it is supposed to do. No it isn't the heavy duty tripod that I'm accustomed to using for still photography. I wanted a light weight product that I could through over my shoulder and take it on the go. The name remote is a little deceiving. What it is designed for is to put the controls out on the handle where you can use them without messing with the camcorder itself. It does this brilliantly. It allows the user to have full control of the camcorder in the handle of the tripod. The fluid head allows for smooth movement from side to side, and up and down too. I think Sony has done its homework on this one. I use the Sony HDR-XR550 handy cam. The two go together like milk and honey. I don't think I could have bought a better product for the money. I gave it a five star only cause I couldn't give it a ten. You must understand that this is designed for Sony Products. Said this, if you have a Sony handy cam and want a tripod that is light weight and has some neat features that will enhance your performance, then this is for you. I see some other cables for this. You may need to get a different cable to make it work for your particular cam corder. Do your homework for the cable and have some fun as I intend to do. I'm a Model Railroader and a train watcher. this will make my video shooting complete. This is a sweet addition to my hobby. I hope you have as much fun using this product as I will.

Not the best but it's ok to buy it
The tripod head is not smooth as I expected. You will feel shacking on the recorded video even if the locking screw is totally loosen. It may not be the best tripod for video but it's better than the ones for digital camera.

Sheer Delight for Handycam Owners!
This is an exquisite product for a reasonable price. I bought this for my Sony Handycam because I loved the camcorder and was very impressed with Sony engineering (like a billion other people). By the way, I am not an expert - I just do home movies.I was particularly attracted to four features of the tripod: oil fluid head (for smooth pan and tilt), remote control in the handle for Handycams, slow zoom, and guide frame. I am so glad I bought it - these features work as advertised. But, really, every aspect of it is so neat. I especially love how nicely the crank for the elevator works. Even the little spirit level is so elegant and functional. So, it may be attractive even to non-Handycam users.I am waxing eloquent on this because Sony gave so much thought to make even this inexpensive accessory as perfect as it can be for me. It was so much better than a pricier non-Sony tripod, which I had returned earlier because it was too unwieldy.
