Experienced MMO Player's Opinion
I've been playing MMOs for as long as I can remember. I've played totally free to play games, I've played pay to play games, I've played games with an item mall--I've played them all. Point being, I have experience in the MMO genre. I've been playing Rift since Beta 5 and it is the best MMO I have played to date. I don't want to bombard you all with a wall of text, nor do I wish to supply an inappropriately short review, so I'll do my best to make this a review of proper length. Pros: Innumerable. Minimal bugs (constantly being fixed), beautiful graphics, great skill and spell animations, varied mobs, a well-behaved community (nothing more satisfying that seeing a WoW fanboy chirp up, only to be quickly demolished by the very unified pro-Rift community in the General Chat), well-balanced combat difficulty, OUTSTANDING character customization system (faction-race-calling-souls), Rift events themselves (and subsequent ubiquitous danger, making it feel like a living, breathing world), very cool looking gear and mounts, well-developed guild system and guild perk system, a great level of content, some very neat quest ideas (more on this in a bit), lack of grind (I do not consider questing grinding, though some may), outstanding customer service, a wealth of options available to make gaming easy (Rift Shard Status apps for phones, for instance), good experience rates, very well balanced reward system, highly customizable UI, intelligent AI. There are many more but these are the most significant. Cons: There is nothing that stands out as a horrific con for this game. Small things, for example: Though weapons are quite varied, many armor pieces share similar appearances. Some more variation here certainly wouldn't hurt. Issues like this one are incredibly insignificant and are being fixed with patches (which are implemented every times there is an issue and are quite effective in fixing them). Of course, you have your kill 'x' monsters and collect 'y' items quests, but in the modern MMO they're pretty hard to avoid. Like I said, there are some cool quest ideas layered on top of these and they all have a good story behind them, so this issue is negligible as well. To sum up, Rift is an absolutely wonderful MMO with seemingly endless content. Well developed, fluid, balanced, gorgeous, and most importantly fun. Highly recommended to any MMO fan. *Note: Collector's Edition also includes large collector's box, hardcover comic book that details the back-story of Rift, a flash drive with the Rift logo, a mouse pad by steelseries, and a map of Telara with a poster on the reverse side, the soundtrack, as well as some in-game items. These are all very high quality items and I am glad I went with the Collector's Edition.

An Excellent Game (F2P)
This is a free-to-play (F2P) MMO that follows in the footsteps of World of Warcraft, the interface enables those who have played WoW to jump right in as the setup is very close. There are currently 60 levels of character development, the skills within classes are allocated using 3 trees for each path chosen, you have a choice of which 3 "souls" for each path, and there are almost a dozen choices per class, giving the player a vast choice of how they play the game. There are rifts (huge vortexes which are public quests), instant adventures, chronicles, dungeons, crafting, questing and zone wide events which normally involve closing Rifts, protecting points from roaming rift mobs, all to aid in leveling. The journey from level 1 to 60 has been streamlined since it was originally released and is a much smoother, quicker trip. Once you reach level 60 there are many end game activities, raiding, expert dungeons, strongholds, hunt rifts, daily and weekly quests to earn loot and reputation. PVP has 'Conquest' and some battlegrounds where you earn PVP specific gears and achievements. There is a feature called "Dimensions", where you can earn or buy a key to an instance of your own, these are pieces of the games locales of varying size and cost, you earn or buy items to build your own creations within these places, everything from vast towns and buildings to small tranquil gardens, as diverse as the players themselves. Graphics are better than WoW, sound is zone specific, huge selection of riding mounts, companion pets, vanity items, and a sweet selection of wardrobe sets. You can become a "patron" for $15,00 a month, which provides a daily gift box, mount & walk speed boosts, loot bonuses, access to skills and daily vials which boost reputation, tokens and loot... you don't need to pay, but if you play and like it a lot, the subscription is a nice addition. I give Rift a strong 5 stars for taking a WoW style MMO to a new level and keeping it interesting over time.

Bought this to compliment my account. The items that are given in-game are decent and for the most part don't really break the game. The box itself is pretty epic and when you get inside of it there are a few gifts you get as well. Very happy with this purchase and would reccommend this to anyone who is just getting into Rift and want to enhance their account with extras. *When you activate the CE edition key you will get the in-game bonuses for all your characters not just the one
