Perfect, Great value, perfect
Works very well. Excellent build quality. Ease of use and design is good. Able to use as a transfer from one cell to another. I squeeze the top slowly to absorb the material into unit. Extremely sensitive readings with this product which worked great for me. Do not breathe the fumes so this works very well in doing that. Be safe. Wash it up and put unit back into the package it came in. Awesome. Thanks

Easy to read-small-plastic thus tougher than glass hydrometers.
The EZRed hydrometer works as well as a floating bulb hydrometer. Easy to read. No leaks. Works very well and made in the USA--no china manufacture. This hydrometer does require more battery liquid than a small ball hydrometer. Checking the condition of a small battery such as a motorcycle battery could be difficult because of insufficient volume of liquid.

Cheap, easy to use battery tester
I use this to check SG off a forklift battery that I'm using in my off-grid solar system. It seems to be working and SG tracks voltage as expected. It's easy to use and does the job. I didn't know how accurate it is as I didn't have anything to compare it to.I have a couple of criticisms, I wish it had numbers marked between fair and good so I don't have to estimate, and I see small cracking around the edges which I know can come from the method used to weld the 2 halves together or if solvent is used to clean it in the manufacturing process, but to be fair, I have also left this under the metal cover of my battery outside, so it has been exposed to the elements and temperature swings below freezing. So far no leaks but even if the long term durability isn't there, it's cheap enough to just buy another one.

Helpful tool
I found this easy to use to find out more about the condition of my batteries. Now I can compare the difference from a new to an old unusable battery.

Great
I am not one to get excited about hydrometers but this is a very nice one and is easy to read and use. Hold it level to get repeated accurate measurements but you just need to tell if it makes it into the 'Good' section. I also have an old K-Mart floating-ball type which has 4 different colored balls that all float to the top if the cell is OK. It checks the specific gravity of the charged liquid-acid only; it will not tell you if a cell is shorted, nor can it stress-test the battery. I recommend adding only distilled-water, yearly, up to the lower part of the hole, leaving 1/2" to 1" below the top (be sure the metal plates are covered well), trickle-charge at no more than 2 amps with a charge that tapers-off as it reaches full charge then maintains it, then check the specific gravity of each cell. If your battery is old, or has any problems, get it tested free at your auto shop or a vehicle battery place. If there is any question, replace it, before you get stranded. I had a battery go bad in the parking lot of a Costco, luckily; it was 12 years old and suddenly died. If you use an additive, 'Battery Equaliser' is the only one mentioned that seems to really help, but when a battery is not working well, replace it. Stranded is miserable and costly. Do not expect it to work beyond its stated month. Be pro-active with this important car-starter that can go bad in summer heat and winter cold. Ever been stranded with a dead cell phone battery? Not good. This is for checking a youthful battery yearly. I just had an 84 month battery go bad at 30 months and it was replaced for free. This helped me get it replaced. Hope this helps you.
