12V DC Power Adapter Supply 2.5mm 1A

Was glad to find a 12v 1A DC adapter with a 2.5mm internal pin diameter as they are hard to find... but, sadly, the item shipped to us was a typical 2.1mm adapter unit which is too small for our needs.Now I see other reviewers making the same comment; wish we had seen those prior to ordering.Received the unit late last week and needed it today, so had no choice but to go spend $29 at Radio Shack to get the correct 2.5mm unit. Yep... bummed.Amazon customer service was great and the item is on the way back. Advised Amazon that the adapter's shipping box (printed in China) says 2.5mm on the outside but the unit does not match that description. Hopefully the item will get reviewed quickly or be suspended from being sold until resolved.Before purchasing, recommend that you have the seller 100% confirm what's in the box before ordering.

If you're worried this power supply will arrive broken, don't worry. It works fine.However, don't be fooled into thinking this will fit your wireless router or cable modem. The inside is not 2.5mm as advertised, so this won't fit your Motorola Surfboard modem or Belkin router.Most likely, the form factor is actually 2.1mmx5.5mm. Make sure that's what you actually need, because 2.5mm is more common.

The power adapter I received has a different form factor than the one shown in the photo. Mine has the prongs rotated 90 degrees (see my customer image), so in a power strip it blocks the adjacent outlet, unless you use the last outlet in the strip. If the prongs were as shown in the manufacturer's picture, this would not be a problem and you could use all outlets without any problem.Aside the form factor mix-up, this adapter seems to function fine. It is lightweight, without the heavy "transformer brick" of similar 12V/1A adapters.

Well, I was glad to find this adapter having a 2.5mm plug because almost all of them are 2.1mm. And then it arrived and I was disappointed to find that the plug is in fact 2.1 mm and not 2.5 mm as advertised, so I can't use it. Go figure.

This little plug-in power supply looks so good, I was almost sorry to install it inside the base of my home-brew bench power supply, but it fit snugly and powers the cooling fan exactly as I wanted it to. It protrudes from the socket as much as any other, but is much slimmer than the usual block cube.

I have a Firewire 400 hub, and the power supply died. Ordered this as a replacement, and so far it's working like a champ. Always be careful to match the polarity - center can be positive OR negative, depending on the device. You must match it.

I disassemble these and use the innards to replace the electronics in 12V MR16 tracklight fixtures when converting them to LED lights. An unusual use, to be sure, but so far these have withstood this abuse with zero failures.

Used this power supply to power the LED strip of lights which I mounted under our kitchen cabinets for cheap, beautiful, accent lighting.Also it produces very little heat which keeps the wattage consumed at a minimum.
