First of its kind in the market, Frego is an innovative BPA-free glass food storage container that transforms the way children and adults store, heat and transport foods. Frego’s innovative and patent-pending design keeps food fresh by storing it in a glass container, which is encased in a cushioning silicone sleeve that not only protects glass from breaking but also protects fingers from burning while heating foods. Frego uses the highest quality materials and is perfect for food storage, preparation and life on the go! Frego offers convenience, portability, durability, easy cleaning and the ability to heat foods without worrying about chemicals from plastics. The double-seal SoftSnap lid prevents spills and protects food from spoiling by creating a virtually airtight seal with both the glass bowl and the silicone sleeve. Patent-pending air-space cushion design reduces heat transfer, protecting hands from potentially painful burns. Grippy silicone won’t slip out of your hands or slide off the table. With the lid on, if you drop it, the air-space cushion design makes Frego virtually spill proof and incredibly break resistant. Frego glass keeps foods fresh and sits snugly inside the silicone sleeve. Heat in the microwave or oven, and with the silicone sleeve, transfer it to the table without worrying about burned fingers or scorched table tops. Manufactured to exacting standards, Frego glass is lead free, break resistant, stain resistant, and exceptionally durable.

Still best thing available
I just bought my 2nd one of these. Because I love it, no, because even a couple of years later, it still seems to be the best thing available. The most important things to me were the silicone, whether it would leak, and it not be plastic. I can take it out of the microwave without other protection and I have not had my 2 cup leak. Mason jars get very hot in the microwave, and I have even had them bounce and turn over. Everything else on the market needs hot pads, has tabs that break, or leaks. What I don’t like are... the grippy things inside the silicone, I get why they are there, but they are harder to clean. Food does get between the silicone and the glass. It is very shallow. Of the 2.5” in the dimensions, 2” of it is the actual glass. Minus the thinkness of the glass on the bottom.I am sure the 4 cup I just ordered will not fit in my lunch box, it is just bigger, but not deeper than the 2 cup. It has been 2 yrs since I bought the 2 cup, I keep hoping they will make a 3 cup version. Same dimensions as the 2 cup, but deeper. That would be far more practical for soup or salad.Update 6/17/2019Ew. Ordered 2 more 2 cup. The opaque lid is now more white, that’s fine. The original green is on the left, the new “green” is on the right. Really dislike the new color. They could have just made it more yellow, and called it yellow. Dropped a star for changing everything.

High-quality food storage costs more but may be worth it
* Yes, leakproof. Packed some very juicy chili in the two-cupper (~$20), snugged the lid into place, and carried it on its side all day. Just to be safe, put it in a plastic bag since it was going to be turned over and jerked around in a wheeled case. Opened it for lunch and nary a drop had spilled. Ate, covered it up again - no facility for washing - and took it home with still not a leak in sight.* Yes, shatter-resistant. The silicone "sleeve" (kind of like a cradle, really) encases the glass and makes a cozy, padded nest for it. It feels really solid and significant inside that silicone.* Yes, heat in the microwave. Nice that the silicone doesn't get hot in the microwave, so you can pick up a heated container without oven mitts - but only the silicone part because the glass does get hot. This feature can come in handy especially for people who live alone and don't want to dirty up more dishes than necessary. Store, heat, eat.* Yes, easy to wash. Glass is just plain easy to get clean. The silicone container cleans up fine. I washed by hand, but all parts are said to be safe on either rack of a dishwasher. No staining as with plastic containers like Rubbermaid or Tupperware.* BPA-free. Mayo Clinic talks about possible BPA complications. Many reasons to be glad about not having it in materials that come in contact with your food.* Yes, re-writable. Using dry-erase markers on the silicone case, you can write non-smearing notes to your loved ones when you send them off with food-to-go. Then later, wipe it off with a wet paper towel.* Yes, good-looking. The whole ensemble feels very high quality and makes you feel good about putting food in there for yourself or your family. The only downside may be that the whole ensemble - glass inner container, silicone outer container and silicone lid - when put together and filled can be fairly heavy. If you consider this for a kid, check it against how much weight he already has in his backpack. If you're an adult who doesn't want to lug too much extra weight around on your shoulder or back, carry it in a rolling bag because it won't spill even if it sits sideways all day. This is a handsome, practical, high-quality way to store and heat foods. Each piece has a lifetime guarantee, too, so paying a little more.

Favorite Lunch Container
I love these. My husband uses the 4 cup for lunches and my son uses the 2 cup. They are totally leakproof, and I love that we are not using plastic in the microwave. We've had them for a couple of years and recently I used one in the oven for the first time. I baked it with the glass inside the silicone. It held up fine, except the silicone turned a ugly gray/black color. So if keeping it pretty is important to you, keep the silicone out of the oven.

High Quality and Thoughtful Product
Having a child with multiple life threatening food allergies and being conscious of health and hazards, these storage containers were well worth the rather high price. Having a toddler in daycare with food allergies, we prepare safe snacks and a lunch every day for his safety. Most of his lunch items require warming in a microwave. Therefore, we are also cognizant of the myriad of chemicals that are found in many storage containers and began quite a while ago to move away from plastic containers. In addition, the daycare usually prohibits glass. However, these containers meet all are needs and goals. Microwaveable, yet non-toxic? Check. Secure lid? Check. Free from breakage, especially in a daycare setting? Check. Also, there are several additional bonuses. One, having the ability to write directly on the silicon with a dry erase marker. In addition, the glass and silicon provide good enough insulation to allow us to prepare hot food in advance and the food stays warm for quite an extended period of time. This is essential when we go to a restaurant or some other outing with our son. Last, all components are dishwasher safe. This is one of those products that is worth the cost, especially if you desire to avoid all the chemicals that are awash in many consumer products.

These are way better than other glass food storage containers because the lids ...
I had 6 of the 2 cup size containers and snapped up 2 of this size along with 4 more of the 2 cup size when I saw them on sale on Prime Day. They are so pricey, but I threw out all of my plastic storage and need more containers to replace them. These are way better than other glass food storage containers because the lids are silicone, too. Cheaper glass storage containers have plastic lids that get brittle and crack in the freezer and have exposed glass when you heat them, so you need pot holders to avoid touching any hot areas. These can go right from the freezer into the microwave. I just wish that they would make some deeper containers that would hold more. They are not leak proof unless your food is frozen, I'm afraid, but I really like these containers anyway.
