Clean, powerful, solid.
For some reasons the stereo line (TRS) outs of my Yamaha DGX660 are weak and when split into two TS cables in order to feed to my Focusrite Clarette+ Octopre they sounded very noisy to the point unusable. I tried all sort of boxes and cables and nothing worked. I got this unit used, like new. I don't even know whether the tubes exist in it but did see some lights. I have not even turned the "drive" on. It just worked. I used a TRS to TS from the DGX660 to the BluTube, then ran a pair of XLR cables to the Octopre. The sound is clean and strong and sounded like piano. The build is solid. I also have a Persons HP4 (headphone splitter) and it is also solid. I like them both.

Work good....
I was a little disappointed, but all is good. I purchased a "used like new"in the box and it was missing a power cord. It is a pretty common one though.Had one from an old comcast router. So, no biggie. Otherwise, I would havehad to send it back. Bet someone took the cord and returned the rest.My savings !!!

This thing sounds like a 5
This thing sounds like a 5,000 dollar pre-amp if you get rid of those crippitycrappity tubes it came with and put some J J's in there instead.what a steal!!!! After the tube change thing is thing is a real bargain, it adds depth, texture and warmth to anything you run through it....voice, instruments.... master tracks....even post-mastering....if you work in the digital samples realm....consider using this thing to add realism to your sample pallette. Alternatively.....in post this thing adds a great deal to tracks that have been squashed by processing......put it in to the blue tube and you'll be surprised what you hear.......i love this thing!!!!!!

Loud Hum at 3 o'colock gain.
I like the unit except for one thing, both channels make a loud hum from the approx. the 3 o'clock position all the way up. When I turn the gain for the channels up to about the 3 o'clock position, the hum starts to be loud. I do not know if this is normal for the unit. I tried a JJ tube and it's the same issue. The tube gain has no effect on the hum, just the gain on both channels. I am going to call support tomorrow to see what they think.I bought the item as a refurb. I guess the refurb was plugging it and see lights come on. :0This refurb is being returned as bad. I went ahead and bought one new. Hopefully it will work fine when I receive it at weeks end.Update: I returned the first one, I got a new one today and it works. It's not quite as noisy approaching the 3 O'Clock position. I am using this with me E-drums. The drum controller output is fine, but I was not getting sound I wanted, I.E. loud, annoy the neighbors loud.

Improves Digital Sound with Analog Warmth
Warms up the sound of my voice and keyboard -- added in the T-12AX7-S vacuum tube for a slightly warmer sound - works great!

Quality control is an issue - I had to send TWO units backs. Chose something else in the end.
I wanted to like this product but the quality control is sorely lacking. The first unit arrived and the VU meter lights were different colors/intensity. It was subtle but definitely noticeable and distracting. This would maybe be acceptable for a reconditioned unit or a secondhand item but not for a brand new item. The replacement unit had a fault where the left VU meter would show a large deflection (proportional to gain) with no input attached. The right VU meter behaved as expected.I gave up at two attempts and bought an ART PRO MPA II instead.
