On the Beach [2019

A bit of TLC for Chris Rea's back catalogue is way overdue. It's great that one of his finest albums has been remastered and sounds superb but the appeal for fans with be the disc of "additional recordings". The original versions of "Let's Dance" and "Driving Home for Christmas" (two of his "brass plate" songs) are here in all their glory - hard to believe one was an extra song on a 12 inch single and the other a b side ! Both sound great ! It is also nice to finally get the Chic influenced "Look Out For Me" and "If Anybody Asks You" on CD. What really blows your socks off though are the live recordings of "It's All Gone" and "Steel River" - brought back great memories of shows at Newcastle City Hall. What a guitar player !

Easy listening perfect

First heard this album in sixth form and then again in Ibiza as part of the Balearic scene. This remastered pack does proper justice to a brilliant sunshine album for those who know. Whack it on and let the cool vibes enhance your gathering or party.

Wonderful music smooth classic Rea, great album first time but now expanded making an enjoyable double CD

Back in ‘86 got this on vinyl and still have it. Some of his best work is here. Classic!
