Not the fastest thing in the block but it's really good and very compact
The media could not be loaded. I just got this kettle and have been using it for a couple of days. When it's totally full it does take a while to boil so it's not as fast as what some people claim it is so I guess it would just depend on how much water you need to boil at one time. The whistle is very cute and it is a good way to remind you if you lose track that your water is ready. The only feature I wish this had was an on and off switch because plugging and unplugging it might be a little bit dangerous if the kettles too close to you and you jostle it while you're doing that. but other than that it's a wonderful kettle it's good for a small home office or workspace or dorm room I don't regret this purchase at all it's definitely worth what I paid.

Presto Perfection
This works fantastic. I love to have a cup of tea at my desk in the afternoon. I don't always have time to get up and go to the kitchen and make it. So, I got this to make me some hot water right at my desk. I keep a case of bottled water close by. I have sixteen point nine fluid ounces of purified bottles of water I use. It takes about one and a half of a sixteen point nine ounce bottle of water to fill it. It has a fill line that you can clearly see in the spout. It makes two twelve ounce cups of hot anything, coffee, tea or whatever you enjoy drinking. I sit it on a small hot pad on the right side corner of my desk and it has been wonderful. You plug it in and wait for it to whistle, then unplug it and your water is steaming hot. Love, love love this. Great price too. Thank you Presto and Amazon alike.

Good Kettle - with a notable flaw
I've been using this kettle for well over five years. My first one failed and I bought a second unit. It failed after about 18 months. Frustrated, I took them apart and discovered that they both failed for the same reason: the power cable. The power cable has a strain-relief device (where the cable enters the base) that forces the cable through a tight turn and this is where the problem begins. Eventually the cable breaks here. Not surprising, as the wire gauge is minimal, 18 ga. Previously, I had noticed that the cord gets warm at the plug, indicating that the wire gauge is a bit small for the electrical load (750W).The fix is easy. Unscrew the bolt and using a (dull) knife-edge tool like a gasket scraper inserted in the joint, twist it to seperate the base from the top. Then replace the cheapo cable with a 16 ga. extension cord that you'll terminate with uninsulated 1/4" female spade lugs, being sure to retain the heat shields that go over the leads. The strain-relief device will need to be modified to accept the larger cable. Use a Dremel tool to grind out the part that pushes the cable into the fitting, leaving the sides intact so the two halves mate securely. The larger replacement cable will still be plenty tight in the modified fitting. Reassemble the unit being sure to install the sleeved spacer over the threaded stud first. The nut/lockwasher assembly should screw down tight against this spacer. There, you've now voided your warranty! But your kettle will last for years and the cord no longer gets hot, assuring more power to the heating element.

This will never die!
I purchased this in 2014, and it has seen constant use throughout the last 5 years...so many cups of tea. It has never broken, nor even shown signs of slowing down. I currently use it about 2-3 times daily, which has been the rate of use for the last year.I have packed and unpacked this Sherman tank of a kettle at least a dozen times, and it has traveled with me all across the Eastern states. This is still the first and only electric kettle I have ever owned, and it is my constant reminder of my best friend, who I came to know over many cups of tea made from said kettle.Long story short, you may buy another kettle someday, but if it ever breaks, this one will be here, always ready to help...just like an old friend.

Presto 02703 Electric Tea Kettle
This Presto Electric Tea Kettle is compact and only boils enough water for about three to four cups, has a nice loud whistle, which is nice to have as I tend to walk away to another room in my home, other kettles I have had I can't hear them when I am in other rooms and have come back to them almost boiled dry, this can't happen with this little kettle, so far I find this feature the upside of this brand of kettle, found another upside to the kettle is it's weight, very light and easy to pour with no spitting like other kettles I have owned, they usually spit while pouring. Downside is that it makes a loud popping sound while when it is plugged in and when cooling down and it does not boil very fast as it was advertised to do, much slower than the last brand of kettle I had, but adequate, I believe when it is time to replace this kettle I won't be purchasing this brand again for reasons it is too small and the loud popping sound it makes and perhaps because it is hard to fill with water, you actually have to set it down on the countertop where you are filling and look down inside the kettle to see if it is at the fill line.

MIA for half a century, the Whistle returns to the Electric Kettle
Tea kettles have had whistles on them so far back that we are not even sure when it was "invented." For reasons unknown, the designers of electric kettles seem to have assumed that this was solely a safety issue. As their safety features would turn off the heat on a dry kettle, they cast aside the ancient whistle. However, there are many who KNOW that the reason the whistle is on the kettle, is to tell us that our water is ready. As we all know, "a watched pot never boils," so we start it up and continue with the task(s) at hand. I cannot accurately state how many gallons of water I have boiled away from my electric kettle over the years.Kudos to the genius engineer at Presto who took the time to add the lowly whistle to his/her design.
