Decent RGB light, low consumption and good app
Install was fairly straightforward, I had a standard ring type bathroom halogen that this was replacing and is a much smaller footprint. One thing I will say is the sliding mechanism for attaching to the ceiling is a little fiddly, I had to get both hands on either side whilst trying to apply pressure to the light so that it was snug to the ceiling and clicked into place. Please note: This unit ONLY operates on 2.4Ghz - for some broadband routers you can split out the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands so you can connect devices to that are only compatible with each, but I have a BT Hub 6 and you only have the option to disable 5Ghz - so unfortunately this is what I’ve had to do, I would say that product improvement is needed here to enable the device to connect to a 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz SSID and still make the connection over 2.4Ghz - we shouldn’t have to disable 5Ghz completely. The white light at standard full brightness out of the box is so bright! We have opted to change to a warmer white colour and lowered the brightness right down - also in this mode it barely consumes any wattage - around 2-3w which is incredible considering it was replacing a unit that used 28w. From the app you can easily change the brightness levels and saturation if you needed. All in all, a great product, one other improvement I would like to see is the speed control on Scene 4 & 5 (RGB cycling) the speed on its slowest setting is still too fast to create a relaxing effect (it’s still almost disco speed!) so if the app had more control over that it would be great. I would recommend this product overall, hopefully this helps a potential purchaser.

easy install and works great!
Having bought 1 or 2 lights of varying quality the first thing I noticed about the Lepro light was its good quality construction, yes its made of plastic but the is no flex in the frame/body of the light and no rough edges. Wiring is straightforward just push the bare wire into the live and neutral holes and job done. The tricky part for me was the connection to the ceiling mounting plate and that was more to do with having big fingers the kept getting in the way of holding the spring clips apart and the ceiling. My solution was to use string to pull the spring clips apart, then place the lamp to the bracket and release. Some 1 star reviews have mentioned not being able to connect to wifi and I had the same issue but guessed the cause was my Netgear Orbi mesh system which operates at 5Ghz & 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz frequency trying to connect to the light which only works on 2.4Ghz. Anyway these frequencies have different ranges so I isolated my Orbi satellite ( which was closest to the light) which meant the 2.4Ghz frequency from the Orbi hub was most likely to make the connection and so it was. If you can't connect to wifi then check out if your router/hub uses these 2 frequencies. Connecting to Alexa was even easier as the Lepro app does it for you (or google if thats what you have). The app gives you a number of light display choices which you can manually configure or choose from 8 pre determined choices. At the time of writing I haven't worked out how to get Alexa to do this but I'm not to concerned as long as Alexa can switch it on/off I can get by. The picture was taken at 5pm with alot of light coming in the bedroom window, ok review over back to the decorating of the bedroom :)

Great, once set up near to the wifi! Newbie success...
Great quick-connect electrical connectors which worked for the heavy duty ceiling wires, as well as for my temporary plug connection (more on that later). No screwdriver needed. A mechanical quick-release is used for mounting (and re-mounting) the unit, (e.g. to the ceiling) to get easy access to the electrical connections - easier than un-screwing the whole thing. My main issue was that the instructions are absolutely right when they say that it should be near the wifi. At least for setting it up. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to get it set up in its intended location (well away from the wifi hub which we have upstairs, on the other side of the house). The porch had a wifi level of -87dB (not much signal; I have an app for measuring this on my phone) and this was not enough for set-up, which worked fine once it was next to the wifi, disconnected from the ceiling, and temporarily connected to power via a wall plug near the wifi, and a table-lamp wire with a switch built in. Having set it up, I then found that it didn't work when it was back in its intended location. Hmm. However after moving one of our wifi extenders nearer to the front door to boost the wifi signal, it worked fine. I have since used the app to change to the colour option, tried various colours (ok, not really necessary for the porch, but fun for a bit), and varied the brightness. Having had some fun, I reverted to the white setting and adjusted the white temperature (which was very cool/blue at the factory setting) to a lovely warm white. Having got it working (as a complete smart home newbie), within an hour I had also linked it to IFTTT to turn it on at sunset (link your IFTTT account to a pre-built applet in 'Smart Life'), and this worked fine! IFTTT has another applet that will turn the lamp colour to turquoise if rain is forecast - no end of possibilities! Given that the lamp is dimmable with the app, I'm thinking that I should have gone for the brighter lamp, but it is definitely bright enough for the porch. Am hoping to find a good external PIR to link to the lamp (via IFTTT or the Smartthings hub I have not yet bought) to increase the brightness when someone approaches the house. Will almost certainly buy some more.

Installation was very easy - well thought out - you first mount the metal holder in the ceiling with two screws, then just ”clip on” the lamp. And for me it was perfect that the power cord goes into the lamp from the side. Attaching a power cord was very easy as well, remove two screws, clip it in, then reattach the screws to hold it safely. The app is easy to use and you can create a household so everyone gets access to controlling the lamp. WiFi will only work at 2,4 ghz - but since we have both 2,4 ghz and 5 ghz on simultaneously that wasn’t a problem… (Even though the Android version of the app warned about the connection being 5 ghz - we just ignored that and the lamp was found.) You can control dimming and how warm/cold the light should be from the app - cold is to the point of being almost blueish, but the warm light has a very nice quality too it. (The color mode works well too but seems to output a lot less light… - more for fun effects…) A well thought out product at a very nice price!
