Lead doesn’t break
Wow this is the best mech pencil. I tend to like the clear paper mate ones but wanted something more durable and not so big. Tried some other pencils around same price; lead keeps breaking. The way this pencil designed, I have to hold it a certain way which is comfortable. It also makes my handwriting neater and the lead doesn’t break. Smooth but solid feel. Not sure how to get same lead refills, usually I use pentel. I stayed up late working last night bc the pencil such a pleasure to use!!!!

It's like magic
A tiny mechanism in the tip of this mechanical pencil protects the lead from breakage if pressing vertically DOWN or on an ANGLE. I can't even see how this works--but it works. Nothing more annoying than breaking while drawing or writing with a mechanical pencil, but they are so handy for fine writing. I use mine to mark up sheet music (finer point, easier to press on a sheet) and of course for drawing. This is a crazy bargain in a mechanical pencil, comes in delightful colors (the pink is a mid-rose and very nicely saturated with a matte metallic finish) and the lead is the standard 0.5 mm but in case you forget, it's stamped on the pocket clip.

Nice Pencil
I really like Zebra pens. I really like this pencil. I like the color, I like the feel, I like how it writes. I tried to see the mechanism depress when I touched the lead and I couldn't see it move. I also broke the lead 3 times. Not trying to break the lead mind you, but just normally writing on my test of it when it arrived. You can see a broken piece of lead in one of the photos. I know it says it's virtually impossible to break the lead and I broke it 3 times as I wrote what's seen in the pictures. I still love it. I still will be happy to use it and even bought the blue as well. For me it writes smooth and when I let off the pressure a bit there was no breakage. 4 stars for the gimmicky "you can't break the lead if you try" ideology.

Truly unbreakable lead. Solid pencil.
The pencil feels super solid, the knock mechanism feels amazing, the grip is good, and the lead is unbreakable. This is definitely a five star pencil. If you break lead with this pencil, you are either using incredibly soft/cheap lead or you are using it wrong. In most pencils that are worth anything you can make sure the lead doesn't break by using the pencil properly and only extending the lead out only a little bit past the tip. This is also easier in good pencils that don't push out a bunch of lead out with every click. This of course means that you knock the pencil more often to get more lead out. People don't like to do this. They like to have a nice 2mm of lead out all at once that inevitably break when they push to hard, so they end up having to click even more and waste a lot of lead. Not only is the DelGuard a good pencil that will give you a little bit of lead at a time, but it will also let you use up to four clicks, maybe five clicks, (1.5mm - 2mm of lead) with ZERO breakage. If you use this pencil properly, you will rip up the paper on which you write before you break the lead.
