This thing works very well.Be sure to read directions. I, at first, thought it has to fill the whole empty space, and blew up the little balloon. It only has to squeeze against the walls of the bottle and choke air access out.It is a bit expansive for a bunch of plastic and rubber stuff. But if it takes you several days to finish a single bottle of decent wine, it pays for it self after a few bottles. And they have to use good quality food grade components. And the air valve has to work very well, not to allow much of the deflation.I just started using it after a long time since I bought it first. I leave the open bottle corked overnight, and it usually aerates well by next day. Without this device, and even when corked, the wine starts to decline in quality in just a day or so, and a couple of days it's quality becomes very poor compared to it's best. But with this device the wine keeps on going long enough that I can finish the bottle. Obviously if you can handle a bottle quickly, or have several drinkers in your household you would not need this device. But for the rest, it is a good option.

Actually, 1 star is not entirely fair. When it works, it seems to work pretty well...not 2 weeks in my case, but 3-4 days yes. BTW, I have tried and used any number for "preservation systems" Vacuum, so so; Private Preserv, a bit better; but the Air Cork seemed to promise better. And the concept is very good, but sadly, the implementation, the actual device is lacking in the necessary quality to perform its simple taskThe first balloon worked for 2 bottles, but on the third bottle, the balloon leaked....spoiling the wine. Unfortunately, the third bottle was the most expensive wine and was a total loss of 3/4 of a bottle of an excellent, expensive wine.I am now on my second balloon and am not sure whether to use it on any wine actually worth preserving.Good concept, poor quality of implementation. I doubt that I will purchase any additional balloons since at $9 per unit, and such a short life, it hardly makes sense. Perhaps the people who make this device will step up their game and provide a useful, usable device for $28. Otherwise into the garbage it goes!Maybe this crappy review will get someone's attention...one can hope!

Alright, I now had some time to test this out with several bottles. And I have to admit I am quite impressed. This is as good as it gets for the price. It is very easy to handle (one common complaint that it does not release the air quick enough is not true at all for the one I got). It is not 100% perfect but I would say almost on par with the inert gas in a bottle. The gas works a bit better as there is absolutely no air remaining while I feel the balloon is still leaving a few air bubbles on the side which are enough to oxidize the wine. However, the gas in a bottle has its own problems (e.g. you never really know when it is empty until you entirely spoil a bottle).Just as an FYI, this product is mainly for high quality aged wines. If you drink only recent vintages of <10 dollar bottles, go with a vacuum pump, they are cheaper and work perfectly fine with young wines (the problem with aged wines is that the vacuum pumps suck out all the flavor which is more delicate in aged wines).So all in all, I am loving it!

Love the product!! Super idea.. Purchased over 2 years ago and been using it successfully. Had a couple issues at the beginning with the balloons having a small hole in them . Emailed Seller and they immediately sent me replacements. No problem until now. I had several balloons saved in the bag they supplied. Has been using one balloon for months.... But it broke and I thought no problem and replaced it. Went to use the saved balloons I had saved. Since last week I went thru 4 balloon. two exploded when I inflated them and two wouldn't inflate due to a hole in the balloon. Love the product so I will be ordering replacement balloons. Hope they have figured out how to make better balloons ...

I don't drink a bottle of wine in one sitting, unless I have guest, but I still like wine. Sometimes, it takes me a week or two. I tried boxed wine for a while, but got tired of that. I saw this recommended on cooks illustrated so decided to give it a try. This keeps my wine good and its easy to use. The balloon has lasted about 6 months already. It seems to work better than pumping air out of the bottle and its cheaper than gas. Now, I can have a glass of wine in the evening and easily save the rest for later. I like this little gadget so much that I'm buying it as gifts (sometimes with an accompanying bottle of wine).Update - some of the balloons are defective out if the box. It's still a great product and hopefully the company will improve this. More balloons can be ordered off the company website. They are currently 4 for $8.

First impressions of the product were great. Keeps the wine tasting good for 3-4 days as long as the balloon is inflated. Have to check daily to make sure it doesn't deflate because then the wine goes bad. The seller reached out to me when I purchased the product and this gave me assurance that the purchase was a good one, but then things turned sour......the balloons that come with the system don't last long as promised. Information on Amazon say balloons last 80+ uses but that is totally false. After 3 or 4 uses, the balloons fail. Another one came with a hole and the 3rd one was no good after the second use. I ordered replacement balloons (3 balloons cost $8.50) and seller assured me this were an improved version and would last long. Sadly same thing. First ballon popped inside the wine bottle first use. Second ballon had a hole, so no good. I almost feel like I shouldn't use the last one because it will make me reorder again. Contacted seller requesting him to send me a replacement free of charge just for the one that arrived with a hole and haven't heard back. Its been over 3 month I reached out with my request and still waiting. Honestly I can't recommend this product just because of the quality of balloons.

I have purchased this product several times on Amazon over the past 5 or so years and the last 2 times from this vendor were not great. I loved this product in the past, and was so excited to write a positive review. This last occasion the first balloon burst the first time I tried it and the second one that came with it, well that burst the second time I used it. I thought I would try my luck at the Air cork website. It took a while to get delivered but the original quality is there.

Die Handhabung ist sehr einfach und verlässlich. Der Ball sah beim aufblasen ein wenig merkwürdig aus (er sah an manchen Stellen dünn aus), aber hält. Ersatz für den Ballon liegt auch bei.

These devices are excellent to preserve a part-bottle of red wine without refrigeration; and to keep a part-bottle of white while refrigerated. I have purchased 6 or 8 over the past 3 years and been delighted with their performance. After a few months, the balloons must be replaced, due to bursting or leakage; and the squeeze bulb lasts 1-2 years before leaking.

First balloon which was attached to the pump burst on first use! It hadn’t even inflated to the point of sealing the standard sized wine bottle yet (maybe 5-7 pumps). I installed the replacement balloon, which worked but would slowly deflate so that by the following day, there was no longer a proper seal. I gave up on this product and ordered Private Preserve wine preservation spray, which seems to work well.
