LOVE this color!
If the people who make this color see this, please don't stop making it! This is the best color I've ever used. I am growing out a pixie cut. Having not seen my natural hair color in over 20 years, I decided to find out what it was. After I did that, I immediately went to the store and looked for something to color the nightmare that was my hair; a blend of salt & pepper and old orange. It was terrible. The first thing I noticed was the packaging. I appreciate that it's biodegradable and recyclable. Then I noticed the time you leave it in your hair is longer than 'regular' dyes, which to me means it's more delicate to your hair, and it was. I left it on for the recommended 30 and rinsed. My hair is very fine and delicate so I have to be careful with it. From the minute I took the towel off my head I knew I loved this color. At first, yes as I have seen in another review, the new growth is very vibrant! For me it was almost a deep violet color-which I loved. That same violet color attached itself to the gray in my hair and gave it really cool looking violet/auburn highlights, while coloring the rest of my hair a nice chocolate brown. I don't think it's too dark or too light. It's very gentle, which I appreciate. My head didn't burn once during the 30 minute wait. I can't say that about other box dyes. The smell wasn't bad at all. If you've ever used Clairol, you've lost your nose hairs a few times. This is NOTHING like that. It's very pleasant and when you rinse it off, your hair doesn't feel like straw until you put that conditioner on it. I rinsed mine out with tepid water and was very gentle with it before I conditioned it, but I still think the dye is very very gentle. This color is AWESOME and even my guy loves it. He even asked me to come to the patio door where he could look at it in the natural light and told me how cool the auburn violet streaks were. I'm very happy with this color and will keep using it as long as they keep making it. And hey, if the folks who make it read this, KEEP MAKING THE CHOCOLATE CHERRY! lolUpdate: my color was fading and I had a box sitting here so I decided to try it again. The only thing I missed the first time was that I was not supposed to shampoo my hair out after I rinse the dye. I typically use a cleansing conditioner not shampoo, but I was unaware I'm supposed to skip that step and go straight to the conditioner they include. No shampooing needed! In the second collage, the first picture is one month after using this dye for the first time. I tried to include a picture of it in the processing phase so you can see it doesn't get too red. I am pleased with the after shot even though it is a little darker on the ends, I expected that as they are fine and absorb color easily. It slowly fades over the course of the month but I am very pleased with this product because it is so gentle for my hair and I love the color.

Accurate color, low odor, and no scalp burn!
This is the most color-accurate, comfortable, low-odor dye I’ve ever used! I’m used to the heavy chemical odors and scalp burn (with my sensitive skin), and to waiting anxiously to see how the color turned out on my hair, typically to be disappointed to find it much darker or off-toned from the box image.I’m a natural mid-tone brunette with white grays peppering in on my top layers, and I’m so happy to be heading into next week with chocolate cherry hair that covers my grays and left my hair feeling stronger than it was before! As an aside, this was my first time box dying in about five years following a lot of mediocre results from big box brands. I’ve tried them all, and I won’t buy anything else again.

Gray coverage
I have nearly 100% white hair, maybe 95%. So this review is for people like me.I used hazelnut brown.Considering the fact that this color is ammonia free I feel like the coverage was very good, but it was not as good as a standard 100% gray coverage box color.I will use it again but I will go up to chocolate Cherry because hazelnut brown looks really washed out on my very white roots. I would def advise going up a shade if your hair is really, really light, and leave it on longer.I really want to continue to use this brand because it is super easy on my scalp and my hair feels good after using it. It’s a great product.I have not washed my hair yet. So I am not sure about fading yet.I’m sure that if you have only some white hair rather than totally white hair that this would cover it, but def leave it on for 30 min.

NO irritation on my very sensitive scalp!!
I used to have the salon color my hair, but I developed a hair dye allergy and the itching was maddening and getting worse each time. The salon had no options for sensitive scalps and then COVID-19 reared its ugly head, so I had no choice but to start doing the color myself. Let me say first that I HATE coloring my own hair. I don't even like touching up roots. I also have stubbornly hard to cover grey roots and my hair grows very quickly so they start to show after only a week or two. Now add to all that having to try to find something that wouldn't irritate my scalp and I have been very grumpy about this whole hair dye adventure. Before this one, I tried three other brands of hypoallergenic/sensitive scalp hair dye and with each either the grey showed right through and the color faded very quickly or I still experienced scalp irritation. So I didn't expect much from this one, either, but gave it a try anyway. I am soooo glad I did! I love the color (Truffle Brown) and I've had absolutely no itching or irritation! Before writing a review I decided to wait until I'd used this product for a while to see if I was still happy. I've used it three times now and still have no itching or irritation and I'm still just as happy with the color. My hair is naturally medium brown with blondish highlights. The grey hair is only on the top of my head and at the temples, but it's not a pretty grey and looks awful with my natural color below. This color is pretty close to my original color, except the highlights are slightly reddish, which I happen to prefer. Since I started using this color, I've received several compliments on my hair color just out of the blue, so I guess the color is becoming.Just for reference, I am following the root touch up instructions and leaving the dye on for the maximum recommended time. I use my own nitrile gloves, as the gloves that come with every hair dye I've tried, including this one, are awful and usually leak and I end up with stained fingers and nails. I STILL hate dying my own hair, but this product really is very easy to use and I've had no trouble with missing any of the grey. Now if I can only convince my salon to do the work but let me bring my own dye...
