Perfect for family gaming!
I decided to order "Plunder" after seeing a commercial on Youtube. For those familiar with Settlers of Catan, the basic game concepts will feel very familiar. In my family (myself, my wife, our two grown sons) we play Catan regularly so I figured "Plunder" could be a nice alternative. The game did not disappoint. The rules (all of 5 pages or so with plentiful illustrated examples and explanations) can be read through in about 15 minutes and shared with other players in about as much time. Setting up the game is also quick; here too 15 minutes and you should be ready to go.As far as the game components, all production is of great quality. The map tiles and border are sturdy and when assembled provide an attractive playing surface. The various playing cards are also glossy stock with legible print and colorful graphics. The plastic ships, sails, cannons and people are free of flash or nub marks and feel solid to the touch. The game includes three six-sided dice and two spinners for placement of the storm and treasures (as a matter of personal preference, the spinners work fine, but I would have preferred dice instead as the spinners always seem to get in the way). There were no missing pieces, the game comes with a sorter tray that actually fits all the components, and when not in use the box is sized appropriately for easy bookshelf storage. As far as player age range of 10+, I think that might depend on the youngsters in question. If they can handle Monopoly or Catan on their own they will be just fine with "Plunder". Strategic concerns are present in the game, as players can not only choose between peaceful or aggressive game play but will be forced to adapt either strategy to changing game conditions and the various random challenges introduced by treasure cards and movement of the ever-present storm obstacle.I've been playing boardgames for more than forty years, from Monopoly to highly complex strategic games such as World in Flames and many titles in between. From that experience I found "Plunder" to have an elegant game design, on par with Settlers of Catan, by providing compelling depth in relation to simple yet not simplistic game structure. An all around great game with very deep replay capacity due to the changing map (modular map, similar to Catan), rapid game events requiring constant adaptation to circumstance, and simple game mechanics that allow for quick learning and play while still providing a dynamic play environment. Set sail, mates, and grab some gold!

Fun mix of strategy and adventure — perfect for game nights
I’ve played a lot of different strategy games with friends and family, and Plunder stands out as one of the more fun and accessible ones. It mixes enough strategy to stay competitive but keeps the rules simple enough that you don’t have to spend forever teaching it.The pirate theme is really well done — building ships, raiding for treasure, upgrading your fleet — it all feels true to the vibe without being too complicated. The game scales well for different group sizes too — we had just as much fun with three players as we did with six.The quality of the board and pieces is solid, and the artwork looks sharp. If you’re looking for a new game that’s easy to learn but still feels fresh after multiple plays, Plunder is a great choice.

High seas game night!
We picked this game up after looking for a family friendly board game for game night. This game mechanics are quick to lean and this game is quite fun to play. This can be played with smaller children or adults alike. The game consists of collecting plunder to win the game, to do so you either conquer islands, sink your enemies ships or collect treasure by moving your pirate ships around the playfield. Just remember to do it all in a pirate voice! Gameplay last about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the number players. The playfield changes slightly when you arrange the map and helps to keep the game fun. The box includes many small pieces but is well organized with the tray included in the box.Would I recommend this game and buy it again? ARRRR! (Yes)

Very Fun for Anyone
This game was a lot of fun.My wife and I have played a couple of involved board games with a few friends of ours about 4-5 times total in our lifetime. My wife and our family with two children 12 and 16 have played Castle Panic and Forbidden Island a couple of times.I liked to play Risk when I was a kid.As a family we have now done 2 escape rooms.Took us 45 easy minutes of set up and rule reading to get going. There were four of us, we spent three hours playing, but my wife moves through her turns like a turtle. The game was easy, a good blend of luck and strategy. Attacks, territories, alliances, bartering, etc...We didn't waste any time going back to reread rules just to figure out game mechanics, it was all pretty apparent. We are a close family and try to have a family night at least once a month. While trying to figure out what our family night should be this month I had the idea of a game night vs going out, which could hav cost hundreds of dollars. Yes we go hiking in State Parks, but we also go hiking in Amusement Parks, we don't do the same thing over and over. We've decided that we will play one game for about 2-3 game nights in a row, so we have a chance to really get to know and develop strategy. Maybe we'll move faster and get two games in the time of one once we are confident.Given our patterns, we might have 2-3 game nights in the next 6-8 months. So this little game will get our famiy through the next 1/2 year or so.If my wife and I have our semi annual game night with some of our friends this year, I'll bring this as an option.Board, spinners, box, dice, game pieces, by all accounts, are excellent. I wouldn't cry about the quality of this. And it is a pirate game that works and is cool. I mean come on.
