Review: Excellent Book for Beginners in Civil 3D - Good book if you are new to Civil 3D. Great for learning to put together a full project from scratch. However, most beginners are either stepping into the middle of a project or trying to document a completed project. There needs to be a special section on "How to fix it when someone else has screwed it up!" All in all, a good reference book with plenty of examples. I especially like the steps given on accessing certain menu items. Many menus on Civil 3D are buried deep. Autodesk help instructions always start in the middle as if you are already an expert in navigating the ribbon/button/tab maze. Mr. Chappell has done a very good job of starting at the beginning.

Great book for beginner and intermediate Civil 3D users
This is a fantastic book for Civil 3D, it takes you all the way through designing a subdivision from scratch.

Gave a good overview of the software. The exercises were very helpful.

Good info, no Essentials and Beyond is a draw back
updated version of 2014, with much of the same material. They did however leave off essentials and beyond from the end of the chapter which diminish the usefulness of this book

Very good explanation. Easy to understand. Very well. The examples are practice-related. Very helpful when you start to study the software.

the chapter 3 which is meant to teach using survey data is completely un-usable when I try to follow the instructions on the book I get totally lost with learning almost nothing, it is quite surprising that no one else has notified the author already to resolve the issue, I am guessing the instructions must be revised or the tutorial files are missing some key information
