AWESOME!
This thing is great. I got it for my dad who is 85 and hates everything. ha ha. It took a few minutes to set up, and now it controls our new Sony OLED TV perfectly. It is very big, and the buttons are large with a lot of space in between them. I had bought this and another "senior" remote, and this one was way bigger and easier to hold and use.Only two minor complaints: I wish it didn't have the small text for the brand (such as SN for Sony, PA for Panasonic, etc, mixed in with the number buttons. They are just confusing and I had to explain to my dad to ignore them as he is studying the remote with a magnifier glass (his eyesight is very bad due to diabetes). I also wish the +100 number was a period instead. It's to put the decimal, for instance if you want to go to channel 10.2, you would press 1, 0, +100, 2. The "+100" I've never seen it used this way, at least in the United States. Also, the batter door is proper. I've bought a few recent "no-name" cheap products, and the battery door was impossible to open, including another "senior" remote. This one is proper.

Reliable, easy, Powerful, Cheap
The U-43 is the best remote I've owned. I love it. So does my wife. It does everything I want (and I'm picky), is guest-friendly and geek-friendly, and it costs 8 bucks. You should buy it.Other reviews have summarized well what's great about this remote, so I'm just going to add some geek details. What I love:- Separate on and off buttons. Simple, but a huge ease-of-use win. Many devices now have discrete on/off codes, and this remote finally lets you use them. A big help to reliability when you've programmed a "system on" macro.- No LCD screen. Nice idea, but more often than not a crutch that replaces good design. Demands that you look down at the remote, takes space away from keys, and is typically butt-ugly.- Programmable macros, even on the device keys.- Decent IR emitter. So you hardly ever have to hit a key more than once, and macros execute reliably.- "Punch through" capability on most keys- Decent remote code database, and decent learning capability. All up, I'm extremely happy with u-43. If you're up for a very easy use universal remote control, you can make this one fine remote.

Warning! Warning! Buy this only if you're willing to gamble on it actually working, and have time to waste!!
I wish there was a zero star rating for this product. What a disappointment. I wish that I had paid more attention to the details of individual reviews instead of the overall rating (which isn't terrible) prior to purchasing. It seems that if you get one that actually works,it's an okay remote, but I wasn't that lucky. Regardless of how many times I changed the batteries, the led was stuck in the "lit" mode. I tried every option given for programming and was unsuccessful. We have a Vizio TV and none of the listed codes worked. Sent back for refund; will buy another brand. Too bad it's junk because the giant buttons would have been great for my elderly Mom.

Works well for. 92 YR old but its slow to respond
Used to replace a standard remote for my father-in-law who is 92. His hands are weak and he shakes and has trouble with all the many buttons on his normal remote. Frankly, I don't know what half of them do either.I bought this oversized button with fewer useless options so it would be easier for him to control his tv. Set up was fast, it worked on his Sharp 65 4k tv right out of the box. But for some reason, it was really slow to respond. I entered the code from the list which took several attempts before it started working and seemed faster to us after using the manual codes instead of the pre-programmed settings. It works from any point that he can see the tv and he is happy with the large simplified buttons.

The large buttons help my mom a lot .
I bought this for my mom who was starting to lose her eye sight and had arthritis. The large buttons help a lot and were easy for her to see and use. She was able to change the channel, increase the volume and power the TV off and on, which was enough for her.

Better than advertised
I purchased this for a senior with bad eyesight. My purchase criteria were for a remote that had big buttons, only controlled one device, and had a numeric keypad. It was surprisingly easy to set up to talk to the Sharp television, although I had to use a magnifying glass myself to read the instructions (which are crammed onto a tissue thin 8x10 piece of paper and which do not match the instructions pictured on Amazon.) Set up took about two minutes, tops.On a happy note, the version of the remote that I got had a learning function, so I could and did disable the "Input AV" button (I made it do the same thing as the "Prev" button.) That is just one less way for the senior to get the TV into a weird state (wrong input.) I don't recall seeing anything about the learning function before I bought the remote, so that was a welcome bonus. Here are some improvements I would suggest:1) Use bigger instruction text, and an English-speaking proofreader.2) Better yet, provide a link to a PDF of the instructions that actually matches the model of the remote I received.3) Put a small bump on the "5" key (for the vision-impaired.)4) Make the color of the "SET" key differ from the color of the "ON/OFF" button. Having a red button at either corner of the remote is an unfortunate choice for low vision people.Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

Works Great.
Don't just take this out of the package and use it as is. It appears to send codes for several different models each time you press a button and you have to wait for it to reach the IR signal for your TV before it will respond and you have to wait for it for each key press. For example, if you could put what the remote is doing into words: When you press "channel up" it might send "Sony TV channel up, Panasonic TV channel up, RCA TV channel up" and so on. Program it for your TV according to the instructions then it will only send IR signals for your model. For mine it was a Panasonic and it only sends "Panasonic TV" commands. Then it works perfectly.
