The directions that come with this Yard Guard say the batteries last at least 4 weeks of continuous use, depending on frequency of triggered "on" time. I keep mine plugged in all the time (over 100' of elec. wire), and keep the batteries separate until I need them in the event of losing electric power. My 1st Yard Guard lasted 3 yrs until a carpenter knocked it off the wall & broke it - only thing that kept raccoons out of my pool & armadillos out of my yard. Installed my new 2nd one which was delivered within 2 days of ordering. Persons who say here it doesn't work, didn't follow the explicit directions for switching between AC or Battery use.

Does this work on gophers & moles? Sweeney's/Woodstream mole & gopher sonic spikes are useless.

I have never thought to try it for gophers and moles. I have a problem with those critters, myself. I do not believe it would work on them because the Yard Guard Repellers are used above ground. Gophers and moles have underground tunnels. The sound waves the machine emits would only work above ground.

Does it work for skunks

mine has worked in Colorado on both skunks and raccoons for over a year. it just took about two weeks for the skunks to be convinced that that high frequency sound wasn't going anywhere. good luck.
