Impressed but a little tricky to operate initially... push the auto button on the handle to open AND close. when it initially opens, it takes a few attempts for the metal things to straighten out but DO NOT force itAfter opening & closing about 5 times, it worked great.I'm only using this for UV protection so I can't confirm the sturdiness

Very sturdy and great quality easy to carry around on hot days. Definitely feels way cooler under this umbrella than regular umbrellas. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love this item. It's perfect travel size. I have taken it to festivals, to Mexico, and to Puerto Rico. I am very fair skinned and this allows me to stay outside longer without being worried about getting too hot or burned. I just bought another one to always keep in the car. Love this product!!!

Good: It's lighter and slimmer than my other two UV umbrellas, so it's easy to carry in my purse. The actual color is prettier than I thought. The actual color is slightly lighter than the photo I posted.Bad: It's not so sturdy. I hope it works on a windy day. The smell is funny, as some people pointed out in their reviews.Unknown: I wonder why the coating chemicals are used for the fabric. Is it for UV effects or waterproofing? I hope this is "Blocking UV 99.98%," as advertised. The package did not include any proof or explanations of the UV-related technologies. No tags. The company wrote this item works for UVA (but not for UVB?)

If you hate being sunbaked get this for festivals, trips, hikes, took it to Hawaii and it took a bearing but it’s still going so I got my friend one and she loves it, it does make it cooler underneath!

The umbrella is well made and sturdy. When it's open, it does measure about 38 inches. The measurement from the inside tip of the umbrella to the handle is somehow too short for me and I'm pretty short as is. Roughly 19 inches and including handle is 21.5 inches. So when holding the umbrella, I have it close to my armpit because that is as far as I can hold without the umbrella hitting my head or hair clips on the inside. In Texas heat, I was still really hot. This might work better on a less sunny or cloudy day, but I can still feel the heat underneath the umbrella. Of course, it would have been hotter without the umbrella. I really need a larger umbrella with thicker fabric. The fabric on this one is thin, but thicker than my regular rain umbrella since it does have a film or coating on the inside of it. I don't know how it works in the rain or wind yet, but it should be ok. This umbrella is probably better for a small kid under 4.5 feet in height if using for sun/heat protection. For me, the 38" diameter didn't cover my lower back or arms enough when standing and I am only 5 feet in height. It covered me well when I was sitting down, but I was still hot. I think this umbrella will work if you are walking in an area that has some shade, tall buildings, clouds or some trees. Out in full sun, it was just not working for me. I was still sweating. I will keep this umbrella since it is well made, light, compact in size and I can still use it for the rain.
