15 years of using Photon II Micro-Lights and this one did not disappoint.
There is still no light I have ever found that can beat the Photon Micro-Light II. I had my first one for 15 years and only replaced it because the LED started getting dim even after battery change. This is not unexpected with some LEDs and is not bad considering the price for a replacement is around $8 now. That is less than 1/3 than what I paid for my first Photon light and it is still the same old timeless simple design. LED color is a pretty good white color. This design is very simple with no circuits to fail. It just has an LED, two 2016 batteries and a little clear plastic switch. Yes, battery changing is a pain if you do not have small screwdrivers or if you have bad eyes, but it is small, light and simple. I like the simple hold on action, or switch action to keep it on.I have tried the other Photon lights (by mistake), and they have never out lasted their first batteries. Make sure it is the Photon II light with the little clear switch. The one possible competition is the Energizer High Tech LED Keychain Light. This it metal instead of hard plastic and has a nice solid high quality feel. A much nicer feel then the Photon light, but it is also much heavier and a little bigger. The energizer also has a circuit board inside so it has more that can go wrong. I just got this new light to try out since it looked cool so only time can tell if it will last but give it a look just in case.Energizer High Tech LED Keychain Light with 3 ModesBe careful when ordering the Photon lights since there are fake ones being sold on Amazon. I recently got one and it was clearly not a Photon and it only lasted 3 months. The one I purchased that was junk had this product name "LRI FMWC Photon Freedom LED Keychain Micro-Light with Covert Nose, White Beam ".

Very versatile and good quality
I ordered 3 varieties - a slightly more expensive LRI PWK Photon II LED white beam with variable intensity switch; a std orange beam and a standard red beam light. They all come with a clip. The PWK Photon comes with a lanyard, a standard ring clip AND an alligator type clip device ideal to insert any of these 3 types on to this clip to attach to the bill of a baseball hat. All 3 are very compact and appear to be solidly made. The white beam light beam intensity can be changed from faint to bright light and it IS bright make no mistake. After one excellent and technical reviewers comments, I found that the orange, red, and white lights each have their advantages and disadvantages depending on how you use them. In a dark room when you don't want to be too obvious nor lose your night vision the red beam is ideal. The orange is slightly more intense for similar purposes. The variable white beam LED is perfect for those outdoor grilling sessions when you've got a late start, its dark and the little lady is wondering when you are gonna grill the burgers for the family. No more trying to hold or position a flashlight, simply clip this little buddy on your hat bill and aim. Perfect burgers and 2 hands now are useful. So, the price is very reasonable around 8+ buckaroos so why not buy all three. Tack on another of Amazon's smaller item you've saved in your Wish List to get to the minimum 25 buck purchase and get a 4-some with free shipping. These are keychain-sized lights and fit in a key case or dangle with your other keys ready for use any time. I'm really impressed with all three. All of mine came in the OEM plastic packaging so no issues about refurb or knock-offs with my order. As others have cautioned, do NOT accept any of these lights if repackaged. Perhaps Amazon has been taking those complaints seriously and that is no longer an issue.

One of the best, lightest & simple keychain lights you can get.
Have used these microlights on my keys since they came out (2007 or 8 ish) Have gifted a few dozen over time to family, friend's, etc. All of whom have appreciated. Does not come on accidently in pocket. With the simple design, there is no parasitic drain so, the battery can last for well over a year or two. If it gets wet inside (only experienced it once through immersion of over 4' under water) you just disassemble carefully (4 eyeglass screws) dry it out, reassemble it and bobs your uncle. I carry a Lumintop FW3A for EDC but, occasionally your hands can be full so, turn on the switch to keep it on and it gives you plenty light to see that dark lock in same hand as keys. No need to try and fumble with your phone flashlight.Buy these with confidence for a super small, light & functional little light. Good for zippers on coats, bags or purses to see inside, keys etc.

Amazing Power and Fantastic Size
I purchased this light mainly for the size and weight. However, I was floored at the power exhibited by the LED. I'm not saying it will light up the great outdoors at night, but taking into account the size of this light and that it has only one LED, it is an amazing amount of light produced. The switch may be a little on the small side for some people. I find it easy to use with just a flick of a thumbnail. If the switch proves to be a bother you can always give the unit a quick squeeze, even with gloves on, producing a satisfying beam of light. As for the construction, it is extremely light-weight and tiny, but very tough. It has a solid feel, with no rattles or creaking. I carry it attached to my keys in my front pocket along with coins and so far I see no scratches and the light remains super bright. No complaints there.Changing the battery requires removing 4 tiny screws, but I don't suspect that will be too much of an effort, nor something you will find yourself doing often. The battery shelf-life is 10 years according to the package. There are far cheaper lights out there, but take it from me, I've bought several and they have all disappointed by either breaking in a very short time or just being way too low powered. Spend the extra 5 or 6 bucks and you'll be quite happy with the end result. If I had purchased this light first I would have saved more than ten dollars by not having wasted money on the cheaper lights!
