Maxie

This was one of my favorite movies to watch. This movie needs to be on streaming Amazon prime.

Maxie is a charming movie. Glenn Close is terrific as a conservative church secretary possessed by the spirit of a 1920s flapper. Mandy Patinkin is at his handsome best as her loving and bewildered husband. Glenn, Mandy, Barnard Hughes, and Ruth Gordon shine in this metaphysical comedy from 1985. This comic takeoff on spirit possession wasn't a hit in 1985. It has become something of a cult classic.

I've had two copies of this movie on VHS and have the DVD copy for several years. This is by far my most favorite movie of all time. It's definitely a feel good movie and you fall in love with Maxie when she first appears. This is Glenn Close at her best next to Sunset Boulevard! If you are a fan of this movie like I am, you must read the book it's based which is "Marions Wall" by Jack Finney. I first read the book at least 30 years ago as a library book prior to the movie and purchased a vintage library copy through the Marketplace here. A must have movie and a must have book!!! The only shame about this DVD is the movie has not been digitally remastered.

I love this film , I have it on VHS . I just refuse to pay for what theyre asking for on DVD , please "Cleopatra and Gone with the wind " didnt ask for that price . Ill wait until I see $19.95 .

I am fortunate to own Maxie on VHS, however over the years the color is beginning to fade and the quality isn't as good as it originally was. I have watched this movie many time and I have to give credit to Ruth Gordon for the wonderful job that she did in this outstanding movie. I have been waiting for several years for Mixie to come out on DVD. This movie won't be a disappointment. It only continues to get better and better.
