Great drive for a Nas.
It's great. I got two of them to make a super large hard drive.

Old drives modified to look new, please be careful.
I bought two of the Exos 16TB drives for expanding a friend's Synology NAS. I have only looked at the first of the two drives so far but can confirm it has without a doubt been modified to look 'new' when they very clearly aren't - akin to rolling back the odometer of a car before selling it.The SMART data has been wiped, showing zeros in the hours and values across the board, but as others have suggested, reading the FARM data using smartctl shows a very different picture:Power on Hours: 31843Lifetime writes - 32 971 100 769 logical sectors × 512 B each works out to ≈16.9 TB (decimal) / 15.4 TiB (binary) written.Lifetime reads - 5 988 505 020 365 sectors × 512 B turns into ≈3.07 PB (decimal) / 2.79 PiB (binary) read. The drive has been in continuous use for nearly 4 years, not the 0 hours as shown by the SMART data, and has read ~3 Petabytes of data.Although I know these drives are workhorses, and the FARM values don't show any issues or predictive failures, I have to give the item 1 star due to the complete lack of transparency, and the effort involved to wipe the SMART data to pretend it's a new drive. The drives were sent in some stiff foam, and visually look defect-free. I'm including photos of the packaging, and the data from SMART and FARM to back up my point. If the item description was transparent about the drive history and status, there would be multiple stars added to this review.tl;dr? Drives are not new, they have been modified to look new, your milage will vary.

Using them past 11 months without any issues
I bought two of these drives almost a year ago. I set them up in RAID 0 on my second NAS (sync my primary NAS to it for backup). It was cheaper and more beneficial than getting an external 32TB hardrive. Time will tell how they perform in the long run but for the past 11 months I have had no issues whatsoever.

Product listing stated the drive was New. It wasn't.
The drive arrived in a bubble-wrap package with a "New" sticker on it that didn't look legitimate, and made me suspicious it wasn't new.Upon arrival I plugged the drive into a Windows machine. Nothing happened. The drive didn't even appear in Disk Management or Device Manager.I tried another Windows machine using another known-good enclosure, and got the same result - nothing.I then plugged it into a Linux machine, which did acknowledge the drives existence, and revealed that the drive was already formatted to XFS, and the drive was completely filled with files.Almost all of the SMART data for the drive had been wiped, but what SMART data remained clearly showed that the drive was not new, and in fact had already been used for over 10,000 hours. So yeah, the drive was a used drive that they were trying to flog as new.Looking up the drives serial number on SeaGate's website yields the following warranty info:"This product was originally sold as a part of a larger system. Please contact the system manufacturer or your place of purchase for warranty support."So no warranty from SeaGate at all. This also goes a long way to explain why so many reviewers complain of these drives being noisy and such - whoever is selling these probably has a large installation and is getting rid of the worst drives, so they're clearing the SMART data and trying to re-sell them as new, and the bad drives are much more likely to be noisy and clicky.

Great Drive But......Here's The Fix...
Newer Hdd's Sata3.3 have PWDIS (Power Disable Feature), Easily remedied By using a Molex to Sata Splitter off the PSU...Basically if your Sata Power Lead has 5 Cables off it it will use PWDIS in your System,(Pin3) if your Sata Lead has 4 Cables off No PWDIS... It's the third pin of Sata that Utilises this function...Other Fix is 1mm x 4mm Tape Over Pin 3 So No Contact on Sata Cable When Inserted.. However My Older External Sata Usb 3.0. Caddy Recognized the Drive Straight Away again no PWDIS..Confused Me For a Bit when I put it in Media Center (No Power) Not Spinning...After Pulling Hdd,s, Sata Cables, etc... New One on Me...

4.5 Stars, for me
Got nothing bad to say, at the moment 209 £/16 tb enterprise = £425 for 29tb nas space, had my moments with this lovely mafacture, but 9/10, -1 for nas support on my, asustor nas, for value, use, and don't fail, checked all stats, reported about 3 hour run time, still got my old baccuda ary, raid, 2 tb 1-1 so only one tb, still worked, packed for about a year, so long gevity there is a list of fails hdds for me this one stands out for buildRegards not a bot

3rd party seller troubles.
Purchased 2 of these in December by April they had started making weird noises then around the middle of may first one died then 2 days later the second one died, I contacted Amazon who told me to return them for a full refund, I sent them back 6 days ago and have yet to receive a notification they've got them back. The last time I sent something back was DDR5 memory, which was constantly overheating, and it took almost 8 weeks to get my money back. Please be cautious of third-party sellers when it comes to computer products, as they are quick to take your money but slow to refund it for faulty items. Now I am only going to buy items backed by Amazon, at least I've never had problems getting a refund from them, and it usually only takes 3 days or less.

Not new
Drive arrived 5 days ago, installed immediately. Works.Downloaded Smartmontools just now and ran it on the drive because of the recently reported frauds with Seagate 16TB disks.smartctl -l farm x:-> Power on Hours: 5371So, the drive is NOT new as advertised. It's been running for 219 days before I even got it.
