I didn’t even realize how many different types of plugs are out there. This gets you all set up and ready to rock!

I bought these because, even together they were cheaper than the plug I needed to buy alone.

Over the years I've collected plenty of power supplies and power cables for various pieces of electronics around the house. This set of DC connectors is ideal for converting a common 5.5x2.1mm plug into something else (center contact is still the same voltage polarity) but it can also be used in determining what plug is at the end of that AC adapter, or what type of jack is on the back of a piece of gear. Just match up the plugs or try putting one of the connectors from this set into the jack.The only thing that was missing was a quick way to identify what each plug is, or in other words, the size of the barrel and the size and type of the center contact. So I took an hour to label all 34 plugs. Then I separated them into three different groups: barrel, tuning fork, and others. When going through the photos of this item I noticed some of the plugs had "tunmg fork" next to the end of the plug. That's "tuning fork"; the type of connector that's inside the barrel.

5.5mm/2.1mm plugs are easily the most popular ends for random wall transformers, and I’ve got dozens of them picked up mostly at yard sales for dirt cheap. Occasionally I need to “permanently” dedicate one to a particular electronic widget I obtained, but their main use is with a variable LVPS with a 5.5/2.1 plug on the end, for testing these random widgets to see if they even work. Absolute necessity for hardware hackers like me. 5 stars.

Combined with a variable power supply such as the Hyekec HY3005S, you will be able to charge, run, or troubleshoot almost any DC powered device with one of the adapters in this set.
