P&P = PHAT & PHUNKY(FUNKY)!
The more I dig through the dance music genre to uncover some hidden gems, the more suprises I find! In this case, the suprise is the recordings of a small dance music record label in the late 70's called P&P records. Brought to us courtesy of our man with the deepest crates, Danny Krivit, we see yet another side of the original dance music era that only few knew exsisted. Thankfully, Danny was among the chosen few to know how special this label was and in turn was able to bless us dance freaks with some grooves to keep us jumpin until we fall through the floor! The immediate thing that seperates P&P from the rest of the dance music being released at the time was its raw production style. The tracks can be described as garage house music in its purest form, since the songs sound like they were literally recorded in a garage with used equipment. This off kilter style gives the jams a demo tape feel. Since there was no major record label involved to water down their grooves, it has a certain level of spontanaeity that was missing from the mainstream and underground dance reords."My Baby got ESP" is a rough styled philly soul gem that sounded like it was lifted from the vaults of Philly International before Gamble and Huff got a chance to buff it clean. "Rock Spank Freak" is a relentless minimal funk disco smoker that justifies its 11 minuite length showcases the spntaneous power of their grooves. It's too many standouts on here to name. Rest assured that the raw production style might not appeal to those who are used to the sleek gloss of tradtional dance records. If you listen to these gems you will find them to be every bit as stellar as any Larry Levan anthology, a Salsoul complimation, A tom moulton mix, etc.If you're a fan of the the underground dance genre "You gotta Get your Love" from P&P records and that's no doubt!

Showin love for Danny
I must say, when I first received this collection, I wasn't very impressed. I have recently come back to it and realized it's potential.Danny shines a light on some important tracks in dance music history.Play this in a background and allow yourself to be hypnotized by the grooves. (like I am at the moment) Vocally, aggressive, yet lost in funk in the middle. This collection is HOT!

A Collection of MP3
What disappointment!!!Only the tracks 2, 5 and 6 of CD1, 4 and 5 of CD2 are sure WAV files. Tracks 1 and 12 of CD2 are probably WAV files (but not sure).Al the others files are MP3!!! :-((The spectral wiev of the files are clearly: all the frequencies over 19.000 hz are cut off! This is a typical spectral wiev of an MP3.I have bought a CDAudio but I have received a collection of MP3's!!!

Discomagie!
