American DJ H20 LED Powered Water and Fire Effect Light

Arrived when promised in perfect condition. Good value for the price. Works beautifully. Love that it is LED, so it operates without getting hot. Used it as a special effect in our KIDS church. Needed something we could install in a place it would not be easy to get to later and it could work and last a long time, behind a window. Love that we could plug it into a specially wired outlet hooked to a switch and easily turn it off when not in use without having to get directly to the unit. Just what we needed. The effect is pretty spectacular too.

A very unexpected and quirky x-mas gift. Was a big hit. One of the local restaurants has one projecting on their wall and I asked about it. Found it here on Amazon. ( where else? ) Works great, just a described. Right now it is focused just above the x-mas tree on the ceiling and looks wild. Once the tree comes down, we will experiment with other places to use it. We also tried it focused upward and out the front window onto our all white porch ceiling. It lit up our porch like a kaleidoscope. Very cool. Love giving unusual gifts like this. And I can see where it would add a great "coolness" factor for professional use.

Part of the new generation of LED based stage lights, this H20 water effect lamp uses much less power (22 watts vs 100 watts) and lasts much longer (30,000 hours vs 800 hours) than any previous generation. I can use three of these in my place and they will draw slightly more energy than a 60 watt (i.e. reading lamp) bulb. The bulbs will last forever: if I used them every night for 10 hours, they could run for 8 years before changing. Impressive! They get slightly hot, but never hot enough to require a cool down. The image is surprisingly bright; actually brighter than a friend's old projector. Not what I expected.Cons are minor: They won't be impressive unless you have a lot of room distance to project; the light has a narrow focus (33 / 52 degree) throw so I needed three of them (in fairness, the Martin DC1 only had a 53 degree throw). I also wish there was a way to change the order of the colors on the wheel - they clash like 90s lights.[Update 6/12] While the LEDs will last forever, the gears don't. These were running 6-8 hours daily on a timer AND POINTED SLIGHTLY UPWARD. The gears started to grind after about a year, loudly within a few months after that. Fortunately there's a 3-year warranty and AmericanDJ was great about fixing them at no cost. Upgraded review to 4-star.

I purchased this for my business to have a water ripple effect going down one of our hallways. The effect is fantastic. It achieved the look I wanted. Problem is, that I just hung this today, and had it running for no more than 5 hours and the motion is now very jerky. The smooth fluid water rippling effect is becoming a jerky stuttering pattern. This is after day 1 of use. I hope this is maybe a defective unit. If anyone has any feedback to provide or way to correct for this I would appreciate it.

We ordered two of these. Both new lights began making loud grinding noises from the motors about 4 weeks after we began using them. It began right after the window to return them expired. I think they used cheap motors in the turning mechanism.We are very disappointed in a 160 dollar item.

I bought these lights for my husband as a Christmas gift. He's a local dj in our area and had been asking for these lights. It was like watching a kid open a toy he's been asking for, for a long time. I didn't see him the rest of Christmas day ; ) The quality was superior. The lights have such a unique effect and show great at both near and far distances. We're awaiting the crowds reaction. He cannot wait for his New Year's Eve gig. Slightly concered at length of bulbs and replacement costs whenever that may happen.

Really cool effect, mystifying almost. But has a weak light. It comes with two lens, I think 30 degrees and 60 degrees. The 30 degree lens makes the light bright, but the image is projected in a small area. 20 feet away you get an 5 foot area of lighting effect. 60 degrees broadcasts a much bigger area, but the light is so weak that it's hard to see the special effect. Almost wasteful. For the price I paid i expect better. I DO NOT recommend this item to my family and friends.

Loved it. We've used it in our small (50 seats) theater in San Francisco several times.It gives a nice water ripple effect especially when you stop the color wheel on the blue lens. Also liked the different lens included for changing the pattern depending on how far away your surface is. No problems. It would be nice if it had DMX control but for the price that's a minor quibble.
