Uncompromising Performance and Protection
As a paramedic, my job demands comfort, reliability, and durability in every step I take. That's why I can confidently give the Merrell Men's Moab 2 hiking shoes a resounding five-star review. These shoes have truly been a lifesaver for me on countless emergency calls, long shifts, and challenging terrains. First and foremost, the comfort level of the Moab 2 is unmatched. When you're on your feet for hours on end, responding to emergencies and navigating unpredictable environments, having supportive footwear is paramount. The shoes' cushioning provides excellent shock absorption, reducing fatigue and strain on my feet, even during extended periods of standing or brisk walking. One of the standout features of the Moab 2 is its exceptional grip. As a paramedic, I often find myself treading through slippery surfaces, uneven terrain, and even climbing over obstacles. These shoes offer incredible traction on various surfaces, from wet pavements to rugged outdoor landscapes, ensuring I maintain stability and confidence with every step. The Vibram outsole is a game-changer, delivering reliable traction and grip, especially in emergency situations where time is critical. Durability is another key factor that sets the Moab 2 apart. These shoes are built to withstand the demanding conditions that come with emergency medical services. Whether it's navigating debris-filled areas or enduring harsh weather, the Moab 2 stands strong, providing long-lasting performance without compromising on comfort. The reinforced toe cap and heel counter add an extra layer of protection, safeguarding my feet from potential impacts. Moreover, the Moab 2 incorporates breathability features that keep my feet cool and dry, even during intense situations. The ventilated mesh lining prevents excessive sweating, reducing the chances of discomfort and odor buildup. This is crucial, especially during long shifts where foot hygiene is essential. In terms of fit and sizing, the Merrell Men's Moab 2 delivers a true-to-size experience. The shoes offer ample room in the toe box without sacrificing a secure fit around the heel and midfoot. This balance ensures that my feet remain stable, reducing the risk of blisters or discomfort during high-intensity movements. In conclusion, as a paramedic, the Merrell Men's Moab 2 has proven to be an indispensable asset. Its exceptional comfort, reliable grip, durability, and breathability make it a top choice for professionals like me who rely on their footwear to perform optimally in challenging environments. These shoes have truly become my lifesaver on the job, and I highly recommend them to fellow paramedics and anyone seeking footwear that excels in both performance and comfort.

Amazing!
WARNING- a bit of a long review but I hope it helps! (Just FYI I’m one of those people that agonizes over the reviews beyond what’s healthy, and rarely leave a glowing review myself) As a qualifier: I am a boot “ho.” Yes, not easy to admit but true just the same. I have at any one time 20+ pairs worn for “mission specific” purposes, as my profession and hobbies necessitate wearing boots 99% of the time. I’ve never been brand specific- some brands over all are better but sometimes you pay for the name only and find yourself with a less than top shelf product. Mind you, I’ve been at it for more then several decades so there are many a boot long ago discarded. I put these boots on when I first got them and was immediately surprised at how perfectly they fit, and how they instantly felt like I’d been wearing them for 6 months. I wore them around that evening while out and about, the very next day I wore them for 4 days of a back county pack in Central Washington State, with a 75# pack (I like to bring the kitchen sink, and maybe something hand held and shoulder supported as well-if you catch my drift) in most all manner of terrain except snow. Dry rocky river beds, roads, gravel, up, down, sideways, water, mud (the water repellent was extremely effective) the grip of the tread on boulders was incredible- and I’m astounded at how much my feet didn’t hurt! The support was incredible and my feet had zero issues- i literally put these through the paces and felt no difference than a walk around the block- again, with 75 pounds on my back (I wear size 14, not real smart but can lift/carry heavy things) All joking aside, I’m so impressed with these that I went to Merrill’s website and bought the shoe version for “urban” deployment. I can’t speak to how well they will hold up in the long run, nor can I speak to other products from this maker, this is my first for them, my significant other however has a pair that’s 30 years old and still useable, which along with the overall looks of them made me take the chance. Soooo very glad that I did. That’s my 2 cents worth, hope it helps and hope that everyone else has as amazing an experience as I am, best of luck!

Best boot ever
I've been through a lot of boots to include 5.11, Danner and Merrell. I first bought these boots Dec '22 and they have lasted this long. It comfortable, the 8-inch doesnt seem that high and they are flexible. I went to buy another pair and I was sad to see they came out with a version 3. Please note, they Moab 2 are totally different than the Moab 3. I'd take the Moab 2 over the 3 any day.

2 year test: Durable, comfortable, secure
I purchased my first pair of these in 2020 for around $140, and just got my second pair around October of 2022. I wear these as my main work shoe/motorcycle boot, as I ride my motorcycle to work 90% of the time, working roughly 2500 hours/year. These shoes have held up really well, especially considering I have a heel spur on my right heel, which has unfortunately worn down the inside right rear faster than anything else. Customer support from Merrell was great, I bought my second pair from their website, using my EMT discount, but really close to the same price as Amazon ($120 ish). There was a defect, they refunded me and I was able to get a new pair right away. My current pair is wearing out in the heel quicker, as I think my heel spur is getting worse. I cannot vouch for how they would hold up to real rugged abuse like on a construction site, on trails/woods type situations, as I wear them in a healthcare setting. My recommendation for that would be get a dedicated work boot like an Ariat engineer or cowboy boot, or White's Smokejumper. For warmth, I would rate them a 6/10; they are breathable, and I live where it's 55F-85F almost year round. Lightweight vs. durable, they are a good mix; being synthetic they are not going to be as rugged as leather, but are lighter. Build quality is excellent. Soles have also been great, with 9/10 traction even though they aren't rated NS, and I like the tread pattern. I put the miles on in the hospital setting, and am occasionally washing off blood or other bodily productions, but they don't get roughed up a lot. The waterproofing started to fade down to about 70% after the first 10 months. I tried to scotchguard them back to WP status but it didn't work. Still pretty decent, just couldn't do prolonged exposure anymore, like standing in the shower bathing clients. Photos: The old (~2 years wear) and the new (~6 months wear) boots. I would give these boots a solid 8/10 rating across the board. As an all-around tactical boot, I'm very satisfied. I could obviously get a dedicated motorcycle boot from RST or Alpinestars that would be better, and a health care shoe from Hoka, and a trail runner from Salomon or a hiking boot from White's, but this pair of boots serves me fairly well in most of these categories without the need for 5 different pairs.

God bless Merrell foot wear!!!!
I bought my original pair of Merrell Moab 2 in 2012 when I was doing overseas work and i still wear them today (replaced the shoelaces with 550 cord about 2 years ago). I've gotten back into LE work and have blown thrown 2 pairs of 5.11 boots and 1 pair of underarmour boots in 2 years. When I found these Merrell Moab "tactical" boots I couldn't contain my enthusiasm. I immediately tried them on and they fit perfect (10.5 size). They feel just like my original Moab 2, comfortable, supportive, right amount of snug in the instep and ankles. I know these will last me years. Yes, they cost more than other boots (other than Danner) but they will last a long time. Update 2022 November. I finally bought a second pair of these boots. At first I was a little up set because I didn't think they lasted that long. I checked my Amazon order history and realized I had bought these boots several years ago. The quality is still the same and the fit and finish is still Merell quality. If you're looking at 5.11 or Under armor, don't waste your time. Buy once cry once.

Great motorcycle boot
My husband bought these for riding and he loves them. Comfortable when sight seeing and riding. He loves the zipper so he always has the perfect fit. This is his second pair and had they been only used for riding he would still be wearing his first. After a foot surgery he needed something with more stability so these became work boots. We own a granite fabrication shop so they took quit a beating from being in constant water, mud and rough terrain. The waterproof failed but we haven’t found anything that holds up forever unless it’s a rain boot. He never had issue being on his feet on concrete for 12-14 hrs a day. They only lasted about 6 months once he made them work boots but that’s about average for him…but used for what the are designed for they last much much longer. These will always be his must have for riding. Comfortable and his feet stay dry when riding in rain.

Overall happy.
These boots are comfortable right off. Soft top will be a challenge for me, but I bought them for riding boots. Shifting may end up wearing through the nylon toe. I have thin feet, and these hug my foot well. Although they have a zippered side, I still have to untie and loosen laces to get them on and off. I’m going to keep open-minded about them loosening up over time. What really impressed me was the insole. I use prescription arch supports, and when I took the sole out of the boot, its not a cookie-cutter insole. These have above average arch support that I don’t find in most boots. I was pleasantly surprised by this considering the attractive price of these boots. Overall, I’m impressed with these boots and happy with my purchase.

Tough, light, good traction... Pointless zipper
Working security at a hospital, I needed something light, easy on the feet and lasting as I walk a lot for my job. I love Merrells and figured I hit the jackpot with these. They're lighter than I expected, and tough. While the comfort in a stationary posture is moderate, it could be that I just haven't broken them in enough yet as the boots still feels very stiff and is putting a ton of stress on my ankles and calfs. When I saw these with the inner side zipper, I was happy to have that feature just to be able to kick off my boots after a long day but it turns out that they don't really help at all. When first putting on these boots, I made sure to zip up, then relace to ensure a good fit before unzipping, only it felt like the boots were fighting to stay on. It's worse trying to put them on as I needed a pair of pliers from my tool box just to pull them on. So now I have to unlace and unzip to take off, zip up and tie up to put them on, fighting to put on my boots before work is not how I like to start my day. Even unlaced they feel a little tough to get into. Again, I could chaulk it up to just not having spent enough time breaking them in, but either way they're a serious pain to take off and put on despite the one feature that's supposed to help actually does nothing to help at all. I'll wear them for a while longer in hopes that I can break them in more and hopefully loosen them up but if it keeps up like this then I'm gonna have to opt for an alternative before my feet get destroyed.
