Editing to add a star and update after 2 years of daily usage. I actually remove the head strap and zip tie these to the chest strap of my dog harnesses for use during night walks with the beam at low power and aimed at the ground. These have been very good at improving dog visibility at night so car drivers can see them from further away than their headlight beams can reach, I can see them if they are in the garden at night, and I can see what they are messing with during walks. The dogs go out in all weather, and water and dirt has not stopped these lamps from working. However the button that other reviewers have complained about has failed after being pressed about 1000 times, and the lamp body has broken away from the curved metal plate that would go against a forehead if it were being worn as a head torch, although that is probably because the dog snagged the torch on something. The bit that failed was made of plastic. Writing that, the reason I am here updating the review is that I am looking to buy this again to replace the unit that isn't working now with a same or similar model. Why go from 3 stars to 4 but not 5? Because of the button failure and the plastic component that broke (I've got more than 1 dog each with this lamp zip tied to their harness, and that plastic bit has failed on more than one unit). ----- Documentation in the packaging and on Varta's website was not at all informative as to how to 1) Open the body to insert the batteries 2) Turn on and control light intensity. Wary of destroying a just bought and supposedly indestructible torch, I spent ages gently twisting, forcefully twisting, pushing and twisting, squeezing and twisting, pulling and twisting, shaking, trying to get a fingernail under what might have been a cap.. no success. Eventually I went through the posted reviews (and non English Language reviews at that) and found reference to some "soft" rubber that had worn out and was the source of a low rating. Looking specifically for a similar soft rubber area on my device I found it, which gave me some confidence that the torch could have its battery compartment opened by something other than magic. Cutting this ramble short.. 1) Grasp the end caps in each hand and twist assertively by up to a quarter turn to release one side (its a conventional but tight screw on). Use a magnifying glass to read the icons indicating orientation of batteries, and insert as indicated. Line up the terminals on the end cap with the battery terminals such that they will be in proper contact when the cap is screwed back on (I think it is only a quarter turn) 2) The "soft" rubber button is black and triangular in shape on the black body of the torch, just below the left edge of the white Varta branding. If this item is indeed indestructible (i.e. lasts a long time without failure) I will likely come back and add more stars, and if it stops working the star rating will be falling...

Just got this headtorch and took it out. Its crap, absolutely rubbish don't buy this.

Niezużywana od zakupu wisiała na wieszaku. Przy próbie zademonstrowania koledze spadła, ponieważ plastikowy element mocowany wkrętami do latarki pokruszył się, odpadły dwa fragmenty osłabione widocznie w miejscach łączenia z latarką. Z tego powodu nie ma możliwości używania latarki jako czołowej, odpadło mocowanie gumowych pasków na głowę. Paski na głowę osobno, latarenka osobno. Natomiast inne dwie latarki tej firmy Warta, tradycyjne, nie czołowe, mała i większa są ok.

Jag köpte först en till mig själv, och tyckte den var så bra så jag köpte till resten av familjen! En del har skrivit att det är svårt att öppna batteriluckan och stänga, men känner inte att det är ett problem. Visst är den lite trög men det är meningen för att den ska vara vattentät. Pannlampan sitter väldigt bra, eventuellt hade det varit bra med lite extra vaddering mot pannan, men det stör inte direkt. Om jag fått önska något, är att den även hade rött ljus.

Eine Wahnsinns Stirnlampe! Die 350 Lumen wirken in der Dunkelheit eher wie 700 Lumen. Die Lampe ist extrem hell und sehr robust verarbeitet. Kaufe ausschließlich nur Varta Lampen. Bestes Preis Leistungs Verhältnis!
