The LCT 540 is ideal for recordists who want a microphone that delivers crystal clear, heavenly sound with incredible sensitivity and low noise floor. It has an immediacy that is perhaps best duplicated by microphones almost double its price, and the db pre-settings allow you to adjust for the occasion, whether you're recording your voice or a jet engine. I use mine for my internet broadcasts and it delivers a great professional sound and I get a moderate (not overwhelming), proximity effect when I get up close up to the microphone....perfect for me!. Microphone comes with it's own removable pop filter (held in place magnetically), which is cool. Because I like to get right up on a microphone I use a supplemental pop filter that I bought separately. I own a Neumann 103 as well which I use for other purposes, but every recordist/announcer should have a Lewitt 540 or 440 in their arsenal. It's an exceptional microphone worth the $$.
