I am a journal collector. I sometimes hate to write in the pretty ones! This one is so much nicer than I expected for the low price. I bought a red one for myself and a black one for my son who is also a writer and was looking for something to jot down his thoughts. The red is really stunning and I am not a big fan of red in general. But it is rich and not at all garish. It has a subtle design in the corner and the pages also have that design,. It is not a feminine one, just a scroll type (see pics). The magnetic closure is strong. It is not a snap but an invisible magnet. The journal also has a string bookmark attached in the same color as the book. While I don't think it looks like real leather, my husband thought it was and asked me how much money I dropped on it. When I told him $5.00, he was shocked but pleased because he knows how much I love real leather journals - and how much I pay to get them. This one is just for fun. I don't mind marring the pages and tossing it into my car because it was so inexpensive. I really like it and feel the value is excellent. I will be buying all the colors.

This is one classy piece of yes. I've always wanted a nice leather-bound journal, but I'm not paying $50 for a stack of dead tree covered in dead animal, no no no. But I'm looking around and- HEY WHAT'S THIS? $5?!?!? Holy jeebus this looks nice, and its ruled paper and everything cuz the lord almighty knows my writing, if unguided, is about as straight as Elton John, and only looks about as good, too (sad face).This is amazing for the price. However, I would personally describe the ruling as "As Wide as if Chris Farley procreated with Jonah Hill (pre-21 Jump Street, like I'm talking his Superbad days)," and if this were the quality of paper Dunder Mifflin produced, then Michael Scott is way better off having left. I kid, i kid, the paper is okay and to be honest the ruling is probably college ruled. What's on the inside though is not quite as good as what's on the outside (although the first cover pager inside is pretty nice, I wish it was all like that) but hey here in America it seems what's on the outside is the only thing that matters, right? Right?...All in all though it is an amazing journal, with a nice little ribbon bookmark thingymajiggy and all, and it looks awesome and I am very very happy to own it. I highly recommend; you will not find a nice one for this price.

Cute and cheap. Great as a gardening journal. Don't love that I had to use Goo Gone to get the label off and that (of course) stained the leatherette. I wouldn't get as a gift because with the label on it, it seems cheap (I know, it IS cheap, but would seem like a high quality gift if not for the sticker).The paper is nice quality. It has a ribbon book marker. The clasp holds it closed nicely.For myself, I really really love it. Just be forewarned if you are giving as a gift.

I ordered these journals because I thought they were beautiful and I especially loved the design. The journals that I received, although nice enough, did not look anything like the picture. The color, which is very red on the picture, is a deeper almost burgundy color and the design was on the removable cardboard label that was on the front and not on the jornal itself. Since the journals I received were okay, I was ordering them for a large support group, I didn't bother to try to return them. However, the picture is completely misleading and that is why I only gave it 2 stars.

Not a bad journal but beware that they sell this at Walgreens. I gave this as a Christmas gift but I was a little embarrassed to see that it was a drug store journal. The magnetic clasp is nice and it looks good for the price.

The book I received looks nothing like this one except for the closure which is magnetic. There is no design on my book and they are a deep red more like burgundy. The pages are sewn in which does allow the book to lie flat while writing. I will keep my books because the price was right but I was very disappointed that they where so different from the picture.

I bought this journal on a whim as a way to get a better deal on shipping. (And I can never have enough journals)The red is more of a rustic red instead of the bright color shown in the photo, which suits my tastes more. The pages are smooth, semi-thin and have small, decorative flourishes at the start or end of the first line. Each page has 26 lines.The size of the journal is impressive being slightly larger than a DVD box. The front and back cover have the same design and there is a complimentary design on the spine.I am very pleased with this purchase and think the price is well worth it. The overall product looks like it should be double the price of what I paid.

Writing is a big hobby of mine, so having a nice notebook to write in is always a big plus for me. I'll also admit that I can be a bit of cheapskate, so this journal is a dream come true. It features 256 lined pages, a magnetic clasp to keep the journal nicely closed, and a soft leather cover/binding that lends it a sophisticated look. At such a low price, you really get a solid journal that is perfect for writing, note-taking, and jotting down your private thoughts.
