LOVE IT!
There were so few reviews of this product I was a bit worried about buying it. Well let me add a glowing review! It has only been a few hours but so far I am just in love with the performance, appearance, quality and the fit and finish of this unit!It is quiet and powerful with no vibrations or rattles (many reviews I read of other similar products had rattles/vibrations). It only took a few minutes to cool down my large living room then the compressor cycled off! I have no problem hearing the TV over it (unlike most window units big enough to cool this space!) The remote is very nice looking as well. What impresses me the most is the window insert-- It is thick and robust providing its own insulation power with the exception of the part where the actual duct hole is. (Photo #1) They also include several extra insert pieces so you can mix and match to get the best fit for your window. Then to top it off the pieces interlock with slots so you get a very tight fit. (photo #2) Now the locking holes are about 1 inch apart so you could have a situation where when you get a tight fit in the window a locking hole wont line up. However, it would be an easy matter to drill a custom hole in the track where you need to get the perfect fit. Now in my case the thickness fit my window track so perfectly I did not even need the locking holes. (photo #3) In fact, it fit so tightly I did not even use the provided foam insulation tape on three sides. I only used the insulation where the window comes down on to the top of the window insert (Photo #4).The duct is also robust and has a locking ring at the AC end and locking tabs on the window side. It is a stiff but flexible duct/ I don’t know the proper term but it clicks when you bend it then stays that way until you bend it again.OH! One thing that I was really concerned about when thinking about buying one of these units was water drainage. With a window unit the water just drips onto the grass. These inside units have a catch tank. Some reviews on some similar products where rife with the horrors of trying to drain the water tank. I have read that in many cases the tank never needs to be drained so I was thinking maybe it is not an issue. However it is VERY humid where I live so I expect to have to do this. So I was relieved to find:1) The drain is up high, roughly in the middle of the unit on the back side. Very easy access. (some units have a drain at the very bottom and tipping, etc. is required to drain them)2) The drain has a ‘nipple’ so a hose can easily be attached for draining into an old milk jug or whatever...3) The hose would be about the diameter of your finger so it would not be big and bulky. So, if it turns out this unit does need to be drained I plan to run up to Home Depot and get some hose to fit then drill a hole in the window insert so I can just put the hose out the window with the hot air!In fact, the only con I can think of to this whole unit is it would have been nice of them to provide that drain hose and pre-punch the hole for it in the window insert. On the other hand I may not need to drain it? I will update this review on if I do or if anything about my opinion changes. Now, as I was writing this review I got cold and had to set the thermostat up some! THAT IS SO AWESOME!UPDATE -- One month later and I have never had to drain water from the unit and I still love it. So adding the drain hose this is totally unnecessary!

Best unit so far..
Ive only had this about a day so Ill give you my initial thoughts..This is my third portable a/c in the houseI currently have the Haier HPN12XCM and a solarus 8k btu unit.So far this puts out more cooling power than both, probably combined. No only is the air cooler the blower is much stronger.. With the others i want more fan speed. This on i probably won't take it off of low unless temps really heat up. We haven't had a really hot day yet so ill update later. The likes:1. The remote is nice and the unit give a tone when signal is received to confirm he registerd.2. The powered swinging vents are nice.. You can turn on and off from the remote.. Want to adjust the stationary position. turn on swing and turn off when its in a position you like.. no need to get up to adjust the blades..3. The air volume is incredible.4. display on front is easy to read.5. Its fairly quite compared to other units i have used. I use it in an office and talk on the phone.. Since i don't have to have on high I don't think ill have a problem this time around.6. The window installation comes with extended pieces. no other unit was able to fill up the whole window like this one. It also comes with nice foam to seal gaps.7. good handles and not too heavy to carry up stairs.8. When powered off the vents close. keeps little hands out and keeps it looking clean. The dislikes.1. The temp doesn't show room temp. It only shows set temp.. This drives me crazy.. Lets say i want the room to be a couple degrees cooler than it is now.. I have no way to know what to set it to.. I have to adjust until it kicks off to know what temp its at. Both other units have this function. They show current temp until you adjust then it goes back.. not this one..2. No side swing only up and down.. you'll have to swing unit to aim left and right. Not a real big deal..3. The power save mode. Good and bad.. The good, it kicks off the whole unit when temp is reached.. it doesn't leave the fan running.. the bad it kicks on every 3 mins for about 30 sec to probably check temp.. Not sure why it would do this.. Maybe its has to do with the compressor.4. no daily timer.. Wouldn't it be nice to have auto on and off.. not just a count down.. You could do this with energy saver mode but it still kicks on and off..

bad product and horrible customer service
I got this unit delivered on June 23rd, and started using it in late June/ early July. It started leaking in about three weeks so I bought a hose with a hand pump and used it to drain the water from the bottom, where it was collecting. It was leaking a lot of water and had started to stain the carpet. The FL indicator was not on at any time during this point, and the A/C kept operating as usual, it just kept leaking. On attaching the end of the hose to the collection tank opening in the middle of the unit, I tried to pump out the water from it but there was barely any. Most of the water I drained was pooling at the bottom, which I drained and then called customer service. They provided me a number of a third party technician company to call, which I did, and the technician company asked for a 'work order' which is when I began to wonder why I wasn't provided one to begin with.I called LG customer service again, and they asked me to install a drain hose, into the above mentioned collection tank, that was not draining properly and DID NOT call a technician in to look into the unit until I threatened to sue. I'll update this when this technician arrives, if at all. The phone number they provided earlier leads to a company that has 1.5 stars on yelp and I'm not too hopeful.
