Perfect for meals for two!
I really wanted a cast iron dutch oven, but I have absolutely zero need for one of those giant ones I kept seeing. I want to make stews and meals for two or three people at most, or maybe even experiment with bread. This one seemed like it was the perfect size for me. It came fast, was well-packaged, and in perfect condition. I tested it straight away, and I'd have to say the seasoning was pretty good, though nothing like those family pieces that have 80 years of seasoning behind them. It's a good start on seasoning. It was nice and heavy, but not like the huge ones I found in the store. Perfectly balanced. The heat distribution was spot on. I made a stew with a cornbread top and it was absolutely spot on. Every single ounce of it was as cooked as every other ounce, and the top was golden and perfect. Clean up was easy, though the temptation to scrub is hard to overcome. I gave it another good rub for further seasoning afterwards. The price on this was even fantastic. I really love this thing. If you're confused about the sizes, see my photo where I hold up a pen to show the width. It's got some depth to it. We got two huge bowls, and two smaller bowls out of one meal, and the dutch oven wasn't completely full. It holds more than it seems.

Compact size but very heavy-duty w/thick side, base & lid -- great for so many uses!
This is such a versatile little cast iron Dutch oven. I have been wanting a cast ion mortar and pestle and so far the largest one I have found is 16-ounces and I ended up ordering it. The pestle is great -- very heavy and solid and it is very sturdy. However, the mortar doesn't quite measure up -- it seems rather small in comparison to the pestle and it is also considerably lighter in weight than I expected + the sides and base are fairly thin (for cast iron, anyway). I thought this Dutch oven might make a good substitute for the mortar even though it doesn't have the usual rounded bottom. It works perfectly! And the entire construction is very heavy and robust with very thick sides and base. This will be useful for so many other things, too. I like the cute shape and I'll be using it for butter on baking day, for BBQ sauce when grilling and it is excellent for small meals for just one. I like the heavy-duty lid, too; it has a flat top to allow coals to be placed on it if the oven is to be nestled in a campfire and there is a ridge around the inner circumference to help keep it in place, but still allow enough movement so I can actually open it when I want to. The logo and little loop handle has a charming, vintage look, too. Of course, being made of cast iron, this will need occasional seasoning. The price is fantastic, as well. I'm very happy to have found this...

Perfect for stovetop or campfire cooking
High quality and well made. Simple instructions. Definitely stick resistant and zero signs of rust. Perfect size for us, not too large not too small.

Buy it new!! Used was kinda yuck and not sure I really saved because of the extra work.
I opted for the Used like new to save a few bucks.. I almost sent it back because it was not in like new condition!! It was dry and rusty .. Luckily I have brought back some in worse condition.. I scrubbed it really good and reseasoned it and it looks pretty good now. Still not 100% liking the bottom on the inside.. Half of it is still really dry looking.. I may have to grind and resurface it.. Other than that it is a great small Dutch oven, perfect for two people.. best part is the lid fits a small skillet I just got too..

As advertised
Arrived today. Good clean casting. No blemishes or faults. As expected it is not a smooth cast. But Im not going to polish on it. Will just take my time and season it over several rounds. Bale and lid fit well and embossing is clean and attractive. Edit: have been cooking in it for a week. It took seasoning very very well and I am extremely pleased with its performance. Everyone is asking me where I got it.

Nice Little Oven
I bought the 2 quart with legs and just used this dutch oven over a charcoal fire and it performed well. Food was cooked evenly and heat retention was great. Lid fits tight. Very nice oven for 1 to 2 people but I was able to feed 5 people with some leftover. Don't let the small size fool you. Yes I recommend this little dutch oven. I'm thinking of buying the same oven with flat bottom next.

Read my reviews. Not sure what to say here beside it’s awesome and worth it!
I am an avid camper and enjoy spicing things up a little. I was able to season this Dutch oven, use it for meatloaf (1 pound of beef plus onions and bell peppers), cleaned it in the creek then added more oil to re-season, then baked some bread the next morning for breakfast. This Dutch oven was the talk of the campsite haha! Great purchase and good size for shorter camping trecks. However longer trips it is quite heavy. But very… very awesome! Fed my buddy and myself a few times with this handy little dude! Even made some French fries for my wife when we went on a hike. Lid fits well, great quality, and the bail (handle) works really well when needed. I would buy this again but I’m sure this one will last me forever.

Great cast iron cookware. Use these daily for breads, stews, and numerous other cooking endeavours. Make sure you get the proper size if you are going to be cooking for larger groups or just cooking a meal for yourself. 5/5 For the reviewers and future purchasers here are some common sense answers for some obviously not reading directions, discriptions, or having knowledge about cast iron cookware. There is a wax coating applied to non-seasoned cast iron to prevent rusting in transit or storage prior to sale. It is removable...easily...the simplest method is to heat the cookware in the oven, within a minute or so you will see the wax liquify, with an oven mitt/glove remove from oven and wipe clean all surfaces with a disposable rag/cloth, you may wish to brush scrub in hot water (no soap) to remove the littlest amounts of this wax left over if this concerns you. The description says it is non-seasoned and isn't a surprise it comes as such, there are directions how to season the pan that comes with the unit, you may also look up how to season cast iron online. To the people who don't understand why there is always a warning on cast iron products, especially cookware, that the unit CAN expose you to lead, phthalates, or more chemicals is because people melt down such metals using cast iron, smelt their own items and what not using additive chemicals. Because of cast irons porous nature the residue will stay in the surface of the pan and will transfer or contaminate what's cooked next. Its their way to dumby proof against your lawsuit against them when your next child has an arm growing from their forehead and saying its the cast iron pots fault. If you are melting down lead shot for great grand pappy's blunderbuss or cooking up your next batch of meth in your cast iron theres a high likelihood these are going to transfer to your potroasted tree critters you are feeding to your family that evening when you use the same pot for everything in your life. Cast iron is safe and one the best ways to prepare food as long as you treat and maintain it properly no matter where the iron was cast.

I've seasoned this d.o. a few times now and will do it several times more, but have used it for camp fire cooking and am happy with it.

It is exactly 2 quarts right to the rim of the pot. So in actuality your real useable volume would be around 8-10 ounces less than 2 quarts if you need the head room should the pot boil. Other than that is a perfect size for a two person meal.
