Great Duct, Note the Counter-Clockwise Spiral won't "Easily" Mate with Portable A/C Unit Attachments
This is a fine quality flexible hose duct and will work great for applications where you are slipping it over whatever you are attaching it to and are thus able to secure it with the included hose clamps. The outer vinyl material is very durable so you are not likely to accidentally tear it in the installation process. If, as in my case, you are hoping to use it for your portable A/C unit, it is likely your attachments are meant to mate with the hose duct via screwing them on (or in other words, the hose into them) so you probably want a hose duct with a clockwise spiral. (If you look at the fittings and they spiral away from you to the right (clockwise) then you want your hose duct to do the same.) This hose duct has a counter-clockwise spiral, so it will not mate with the typical "righty tighty/lefty loosey" (clockwise on/counter-clockwise off) spin-on end pieces, particularly because they are meant for the hose to be inside them, rather than outside, so you won't be able to use the hose clamp method to attach them. That said, it is possible, with some significant effort, to force the duct into the end pieces even though the threads are the opposite. The duct simply compresses in diameter a bit as you insist on twisting the ends on, so if you really want to make it work, it can be done. Now, on another note, to my chagrin, I was disappointed to discover that the duct got very hot when I did actually attached it to my portable A/C unit, even more so than the original single-layer plastic duct that came with the unit. This was completely the opposite of what I expected and defeated my particular purpose in buying the multi-layer with aluminum, as I was hoping to eliminate the inherent problem that comes with the portable A/C units, where they superheat the intake air off of their own exhaust and thus work against themselves in cooling the given area as efficiently as they could. In all fairness, I think the hose getting super hot was actually aggravated because I did not cut it to length and thus in it's compressed form it both reduced the inside diameter and significantly multiplied the amount of aluminum that was getting heated-up. So, I definitely encourage cutting the duct to the minimum length you need, to keep it the coolest possible, though even then, the design of the hose is really meant for durability with high heat, as opposed to being insulative. Since there is not any air space in-between the two layers of aluminum, the heat simply transfers from layer to layer and the outside of the hose quickly gets as hot as the inside.Again, this is a great hose duct for durability and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Thinking it was going to stay cooler than a single-layer plastic hose was over-optimistic on my part, due to the nature of heat transfer. The inner and outer walls need to be separated by air to prevent heat transfer, which is actually what makes fiberglass and other wraps work, as well, as they are really just providing a structural air space between the inner and outer surfaces. This is also the case with sound transfer, if you happen to be buying the hose hoping it will be quieter, which is not likely. In fact, I did not find it made any difference in that aspect, in my own application.

The hose is wrapped left handed.
The hose is really good quality and it is the same size (5 inches o.d.) to fit portable air conditioners, but it is wound the opposite as the typical vinyl hoses use in these units. If your hose screws into the end fittings, then this will not work as a replacement. I ended up using duct tape and another 6 inch hose over the top of everything for insulation and to hide the tape.

Does not make any difference
I thought this would help with heat from portable ac unit, it doesn't. I had to wrap with additional insulation.
