Great value for money and easy to use
This is a great product and definitely value for money for what it does. The seal function creates a great seal with no leakage. The vacuum and Seal function does as it says and creates a perfect vacuum. We purchased this item to start preparing the long term storage of food stuff. With additional mylar bags that we purchased, these also work great in the device - just remember the width of the seal bar on this device, before buying the mylar bags (something we did and so they all fit and seal perfectly). Remember to follow the instruction manual and place the bags in the right slot for either sealing or vacuum & sealing. Also, remember to leave at least 40 seconds between each use otherwise the next bag won't seal properly, something we discovered the first time we tried to use it on another bag after having just vacuum and sealed another. It won't seal fully and you will loose the vacuum. If you leave at least 45 seconds between bags, it works perfect every time. Can't praise this enough. Best buy yet in my food prepping kit. I also bought the vacuum cannisters, which allows me to re-use old sauce jars to store things in. Just put what ever it is you want in the jar, just put the lid on (don't twist it on or it won't suck the air out and remember the lid has to have the rubber seal on the inside of the lid), place it in the vacuum cannister, put the cannister lid on, attach the hose to the device and put it on the 'Cannister' mode. Once it's finished, release the seal on the cannister and remover the jar. The lid will now be vacuum sealed to the jar and you have a perfectly vacuum sealed jar. Twist the lid closed to make it extra safe. This Geryon device does it all and with all the different settings on it, I can vacuum seal most anything now.

Simple to use but very effective.
Well packaged, arrived with a, straightforward instruction booklet, roll of plastic for making you own size bags and a few individual bags, also a pipe for using the 'Cannister function' I expect you're able to buy the cannister separately. It was up and running after a couple of minutes and I'd packaged my first fresh meat using the roll of plastic to make an individual bag.Firstly, cut the roll to size using the cutter on the machine, make sure you hold the sheet in place whilst doing this.Next seal one end of the bag (you don't need to do this with the preformed bags) Place one of the open ends into the machine, across the first rubber bar and close the lid and push down to make each side click into place. (The machine will not work if you don't do this) Touch the 'Seal' button, the light will illuminate, after a few seconds the light goes out and you're done. Release the lid by pressing the buttons on either side and you've sealed one end of the bag.Next fill the bag with food, place the neck of the bag into the vacuum area, close the lid as before and press the 'Vac/Seal' button. You see the air being drawn out of the bag and then the 'Seal' light illuminates again. When it's extinguished the process is over; release either side as before and you're done. You can choose whether the food to be packed is 'Moist or Dry' and there is a gentle function too for delicate items. The bags seem good quality and quite thick so there's no chance this would rip or tear in the freezer. I believe you can buy 28cm wide sheets on a roll which would be ideal for bigger items. So far, I'm very impressed.

Great value vacuum sealer which actually works
Lots of reviews here, so to be specific, I bought the 'GERYON Vacuum Sealer Machine, Automatic Food Sealer for Food Savers w/Starter Kit'. £43.00.I previously bought the 'Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer with Built-in Cutter & Roll Bag Storage' and it was rubbish. I'll be leaving a separate review of that, but seriously do not buy it!Amazon is full of fake reviews, buzzwords and paid opinions. When I’ve spent ages navigating this minefield I feel compelled to leave an honest review. This product is a basic entry level vacuum sealer, and it does the job with few frills. (That's a good thing). This product was so satisfying to use. It doesn't come with a built in cutter, but that's a feature I'm willing to substitute if the thing actually works, and it works well. A few design elements set it apart from the other budget vacuum sealers, and they make a difference. For example, it has a locking mechanism and a removable/cleanable drip section. Whilst the 'Bosenkitchen' sealer had no vacuuming ability at all, this 'Geryon' product turned my finely chopped veg into a compacted brick. I immediately went on a rampage vacuum sealing everything I could find in the house. Pork loin? Vacuumed (wouldn't recommend pork chops; sharp ends) Olives? vacuumed! Polish sausage I might not get around to until next week? That's right. Vacuumed. Super tight and air free. My cat? OK I didn't vacuum the cat, but it's only a matter of time...The 'gentle' and normal' settings actually made a difference when sealing the pork loins. They held a bit of moisture, so going gentle until I could see the liquid was all contained, then 'normal' for a further vacuum was really helpful.A few minor points: The instructions indicate that the package comes with a replacement rubber seal. Mine didn't, so hopefully the existing one holds up. Also, the buttons are very responsive, and can actually be a little too sensitive. I’ve accidentally pressed the ‘seal’ button while still trying to vacuum, which is annoying.A little tip: Cut the bag a few inches too long. If you're not intending on storing the food long term you can open it carefully, then wash and re-use the bag. Saves on plastic waste. Be wary of bacteria however if the bag was used to store meat etc… To be even safer, you can buy biodegradable bags. These will only break down in compost conditions, so won’t compromise your storage, and they’re much better for the environment. Finally, the seller includes a good sized manual, and makes it clear if there are any problems to contact them. I’m unsure how responsive they’ll be, but it’s reassuring.
