A 4.5 star item pretty good. Not perfect.
First off I use these and vodka to make vanilla extract. I use a 1.75 liter bottle of decent vodka made in Texas "T....s"I use 30-40 sticks of vanilla. These were rated grade 'a' which means they should be plumper then grade 'b'Having purchased around 100 sticks a year for the last 6 years I have had a lot of experience with sticks. 8 sticks were full plump good texture good fragrance. I cut a small piece off each one and split them down the middle> I then drop the split sticks into the vodka and let soak in the refrigerator for 2 months. I pull the bottle out every day and gently shake it a bit.The ten little pieces cut off the beans I chew on to get an idea of the flavor of each stick. All ten peices had a decent/good flavor. So taste wise these were all "a" grade.Fragrance wise these were all "a" grade.None had an signs of mold.8 were nice and plump2 were a little dry.price was very good. All in all about a 4.5 star rating for this package.or 9 of 10 if it were a 10 star system. Most important all tasted good. So they will make a good vanilla extract.

Great vanilla beans
I've been making my own vanilla extract for about 7 years, and these are the best beans I've ever gotten. They were fresh, had NO mold (which I've had happen in the past), were full of bean paste, and were wonderfully fragrant. They were so perfect, in fact, that I almost hesitated to use them for extract and kept them to bake with instead. I went ahead as planned, and suspect this may be my best batch of extract to date.

Excellent Beans
This is my first experience with buying vanilla beans on Amazon. I’ve bought them before locally. These are Tahitian beans, so they are from Indonesia not Madagascar, should that matter to you.The price is good, as they are Grade A but prices about halfway between Grade A and Grade B.You can absolutely use Grade B for making extract, but these look nicer and have a little more moisture content.I slice the beans, not open but so there is a slit about halfway down each one. I put all ten in a 16 ounce swingtop jar filled with 80 proof vodka. While they are aging, I keep them stored in a dark cupboard, and give the bottle a turn upside down and a shake every week.Around week 8 or so I split them into two 8 ounce bottles. I’ll use one about 6 months in, and save the other until it ages a year.Of course, I could divide them up from the start but I find this helps me stay on top of start dates and bottles better. Also 10 beans in 16 ounces seems to infuse faster than 5 beans in 8 ounces. The beans cane vacuum sealed and all were 5 to 5 1/2”, no 6” so they probably shouldn’t advertise that way.

These were very soft and fresh.
Used these for vanilla extract. I’ve. Ade extract many times and usually found beans to be quite dry and stiff. These are plump, fragrant and soft!
