In a world of low quality cheaply built products, this cheese slicer offers a pleasant surprise. I was impressed by the high quality look, feel and performance of this slicer. It appears to be made of polished stainless steel. It has a little heft to it that adds to the high quality feel. Comes with a replacement cutting wire also if needed. I have been using this several times a week since receiving it and again couldn’t be happier with it’s performance. Clean up is quick and easy.I bought a hand crank cheese slicer in the same order and have used it once. The crank slicer works okay but definitely more cumbersome and cleanup was time consuming for just slicing one block up or making a sandwich.This compact simple stainless slicer is much handier and more adjustable for desired slice thickness.

Solid, sturdy frame, easily adjusts for desired slice thickness, extra cutting wires included.As an engineer, I'm not easily impressed. This product is an exception.

Easy to adjust and works well

This slicer is well made and works well. I like that you can adjust it to whatever thickness of cheese suits you. I have found if you take your cheese out of the fridge and let it warm for a while before slicing a bunch, the cheese is much easier to slice. We buy big blocks of Tillamook and slice about 12-15 slices at a time. It seems that once it a while allowing the block to warm, slicing, and putting the cheese back in the fridge doesn't harm the cheese, but your mileage may vary. Also, holding the slicer at a 45 degree angle rather than flattening with respect to the cheese helps to get nice slices.Quite a bit later: one of the screws/nuts finally broke, which would normally render the slicer permanently unusable. I saw a few reviews lamenting this type of break. Your options: 1) ask the company for help (they seem to be helpful in the reviews I read), or 2) fix it yourself by going to a hardware store that sells many screws and such, buy a size 8 flanged nut thing like I pictured here, dremel it to trim the ears off and make the flange smaller, et voila!IMHO the company should supply you with an extra screw, or firm up the screw assembly not to break -- one has to tighten them with a screwdriver to be tight enough, in my experience with this gizmo, and it could break then (though mine broke when I slipped off the cheese and hit the counter), so it might help if they shored up the screw (really, the flange/nut that fits on the screw).

I've been using this type of cheese slicer for years and this is no exception to the style and design so I can honestly say it's solid built, as are most. If you don't already know it, you should know that these wires break frequently enough so it's nice that they've sent along a couple extras. For anyone reviewing these that complain about the wires breaking have obviously not used these types of cutters much. It's what they do.

Solidly built. Easy to handle. Neither of the replacement wires that came with the slicer fit. So for me, it is a great slicer until the wire breaks. Then you buy another one.

This is a quality cheese slicer. I love the adjustable wire. I can dial in my preferred thickness!
