Great Value, Great Sound
I upgraded from a big box store Sony turntable and I am quite satisfied. Instantly noticed huge improvement in clarity and detail. This is a fully manual table so look elsewhere if you want a "just press play" deck. The table was well packaged and arrived promptly. Set up was quick and painless, just read the directions. After a weekend of spinning records the stylus was fully broken in and sounded better with every play. I did notice some motor vibration coming through the speakers and high volume between tracks, and I admit I was a little bummed about that. It was barely noticeable but my $120 sony didnt have that problem. But the Pro-ject sounds so much better than the Sony, it didnt bother me enough to return it. Then I bought an acrylic platter and the hum was gone. Also much less static heard in playback and darker, quiter background. I also invested in a good record clamp, which I feel helps any table perform at its best. Next upgrade will be the Speed Box and eventually I'll upgrade the cart, but for now the OM 5e performs flawlessly and I'll only upgrade once it wheres out. Bottom line: it truly is a great value, especially for some one upgrading from a cheap or worn out turntable. If it were stolen I'd order another, no hesitation. Lots of room to upgrade, minor upgrades yield vast improvement but beware: it can be quite addictive (and fun). After I order the speed box in a day or two I will have a total investment of $600 in this table, but well worth it. FYI with this table I use a Rotel RA840BX integrated amp and a pair of Polk TSi400 speakers.

It sounded so good, was such an improvement, it gave me goosebumps and a grin.
I have Had Denon, nad, and technics tables but this table made me grin. Love it the sound is so good it actually gave me goose bumps. It was hard to believe using a qinpu tube a 6000, behringer pp400 phono amp. A.Jones, pioneer speakers and switching also to RaLabs mini monitors from around mid 90s, and a Polk audio powered subwoofer. Soundstage opened up bass noticably air all in the voice. Jim Croce's Alabama rain was moving, the tone of the voice a touch deeper and staged up like about a foot higher and likewise it also broadened the strings, I play around on acoustic guitars, I know what a guitar is suppose to sound like. The ortofon om5e reproduction ability was so precise the staging added depth. Fogelbergs Netherlands album, Scarecrow dreams song a touch brighter and mid range balanced, channel seperation balanced and this is a unprovable just a feeling that it seems like the needle is deeper in the grove the range extended. My Sheffield Labs, Dave Grusin direct disc the string bass tone deepend and the triangle ringed brighter and a touch longer. For the money $299, I know of nothing that can touch it. Unless you want to spend say $1500 more for a Linn. Oh the gloss Piano black looks like class. And the supplied rca cable is high quality and the power wire, it has clip lock on adaptors for different countries power recptacles.

The base and arm are great. I'm not as keen on the lid
I bought this to get back into vinyl after 20+ years away. I used to have a Sansui SR222 back in the day. This turntable is very simple to set up as the cartridge came pre-aligned and I was playing LPs inside 10 minutes. The base and arm are great. I'm not as keen on the lid, it seems hard to close and open without jarring a playing record but that may loosen up over time. I've taken to leaving it open while in use. Sound wise it is as good as I would expect from something in this price range. The rest of my system is not ideal at the moment with a repurposed home theatre receiver and some badly placed speakers, but the turntable is definitely not the weak link here.

The unit is one of the best available at this price point
The unit is one of the best available at this price point. I won't give it a full 5-star review because the setup is kind of a pain. Getting the counter weight balanced is a b*tch, and the anti-skate on it adds a unique style feature but it is somewhat clumsy and awkward to get it in place and keep it there at first. I also wish it came with the acryl-it platter, but for the cost of the unit I understand why its an add-on. If your in the market for a turntable and want something more then an audio-tech, I'd push you toward this unit more then there element table just because it has a included dust cover (I live in an area where dust is extremely prevalent). Other then the few issues during setup its been a great piece of equipment, and the struggles I encountered were easy enough to take care of. If you want something more or a little more style consider Pro-Ject RPM line.

This is Pro-Ject's 'Entry Level' turntable?!?
FINALLY FOUND A WINNER after searching everywhere for a high-quality turntable under $500.00 (they DO exist-and this is it!).The sound from this amazing turntable blows me away, even with the included 'stock' cartridge. How much better can the sound possibly bewith the higher priced Ortofon cartridge? Do you then see the FACE OF GOD surrounded by and angel choir? Maybe! Get off the fence NOWand BUY this turntable.

I'm happy with everything about this turntable
I'm happy with everything about this turntable. It sounds great, is built to last, and works flawlessly. My brother in law, who is a professional vinyl DJ in Chicago, remarked about how the cartridge is aligned perfectly out of the box.The only thing I'd comment on is the hum when cranking up the volume. I think most tables are going to have this though. I will probably run a second ground from the tt to the outlet screw and see if it helps.

I like it
I've had this turntable for about 1 year and loved it out of the box. Through holiday and birthday presents I've acquired the Acryl-it platter, record puck and Ortophon super 10 cartridge (about $250 worth of add-ons). It rivals other tables twice as expensive and compliments my tube amp and Klipch speakers nicely. Great product and easily upgradeable.

Nice Turntable
Nice turntable at a reasonable price, including a nice cartridge (something some manufacturers skimp on). While not the fanciest table out there it does a great job, produces nice sound, and is relatively easy to assemble and get going right out of the box.
