Never knew I needed one if these
I wish I had known about these things sooner. I've been in and around everything automotive my entire life and own more tools than any one person should. My son had been hauling a 30 plus foot trailer and had a tire/wheel/hub come apart about 600 miles from home. He managed to find a trailer parts store and borrow something similar from their repair shop. He sent me a pic of it and I had to find one.Since I bought this set I've saved 3 other axles and a cv shaft from having to be replaced by being able to fix the threads from back to front. A normal die goes front to back and makes a mess if it can't get started straight. These can use the threads in the back and guide the blade to fix the outer ones. It would be hard I believe to do small bolts with this but it is well worth the money for larger diameter threads.

Quality concern
The adjusting knob gets stuck, even after applying some lube.

Works well for the right application
The only drawback that I saw was that you need a fairly good amount of thread in order for the lead blade to guide the secondary which is the one actually correcting the threads

Cleaned up threads
Worked to clean the threads up but kind of expensive and being a "one-size for all" means it has some limitations.

Great product
Did exactly what I needed it to do. Repaired the thread on my CNC spindle which was badly flattened. Now my collets fit on perfectly.

Not for the impossible jobs
When I say impossible, I mean, the threads were sand blasted, powder coated, then clear coated, several times over. I was hoping this would be enough to do the job, but it pretty much only scraped off some of the clear coat. The only solution I had at that point was to (and this is for super basic novice do it yourselfers like me), get yourself some calipers and a thread measuring tool. Make sure both are either standard or metric, just in case you don't know what you have. You can learn all about thread & caliper measurement on YouTube. Once you have the #'s, buy the matching die (external... taps are internal), and rethread the impossible that way.
